One day I came home with collard greens and my dh got real excited thinking I was going to cook them up for him, nope they went to the geese. So I had to buy some just for him.

Thank you Kalsti. I bugged my husband for years to get a weeping cherry or crabapple tree then he finally said yes. The geese said YEA mom bought us a crabapple tree to eat. Little did I know my babies would eat the limbs and trunk!!!

Maybe hanging fruit from the branches of our young trees may help to distract them! We have fencing around all our saplings, as we´ve found that even if they don´t really want to eat them, they nibble and leave the evidence withering on the ground!

Sometimes they´ll come across one that hasn´t been protected yet, and my hubby says the trees have been goosed again!

The chickens go at the roots, the geese at the leaves and shoots, it´s a wonder anything survives here! The muscovies are ok, they just poop over it all!
Miss Lydia, my family is the same...they now check to see if they can have of the goslings´ lettuce etc!

Yes, every new tree that we plant gets its own chicken wire protective girdle right away.

We had wood fencing around the tree. It was a former deck for a friend and we put that around the weeping crabapple tree. The brats stretched they necks as far as the could to get that poor tree. Not even chicken wire would keep the pack of snots out!!!!

Here they are dining on my burning bush!

Welcome to October geese people!!!!

Well, I think the original burning bush didn´t get harmed! By the way, I love the chocolate truffle geese wrapped in candy paper!

I never did catch the geese eating the cabbage head, too busy yesterday but had the camera with me when a few ducks and chickens were munching on it.
