North Carolina

I keep the window beside my bed open a little so that I can hear my birds. The neighbors up the road have games birds behind their trailer. I can barely hear their Roos at 4:05 every morning. My boys will start up about 4:10. Big Amos is first for now. He has a crisp, mid-range pitched, loud crow. He is needing a new home if anyone is interested. From there it spreads to the 3 Dutch bantam boys with their high-pitched crows. Then the older men get started. Favy, bantam Faverolle, crows 3 times and goes back to sleep. I can hear Andy down in his house and Chitter Butt in his. I can't hear Little Amos and the d'Uccle boy that are in the upper yard in their house. That is about the time JJ gets going. His big bellowing Cochin crow finishes off the chorus. Sometimes I can hear the young standard cochin boys in the henhouse, but they still ain't very good at getting the volume their dad can. They go for about 5 minutes. Big Amos has been trying to have the last crows lately.

I have to count each and everyone of the them. If I don't hear someone I should I will get up and go see why. I don't sleep much and am normally awake. If I am asleep I can still hear them. I may not move or wake all the way up, but the brain is working enough to do the count.

If I didn't have the boys crowing at night I would never be able to sleep.

I would, but I just treated for parasites a couple of months ago. Also, I only have bantams. Last years my silkies did this to me too after they molted and then they started again in spring. I think its just they are all bantams and with the short days... I wouldn't be surprised if they start up again next month. But I may go ahead and deworm them. I really didn't want to upset their systems again after the corid treatment.

SoS bring those EE ladies too and I can get them or you can trade them to Lukes for those crates
