Thanks everyone for the advice. I will stick with non medicated chuck starter. I am super excited about being a mommy again. My sin is counting down the days. Doing all my online reading I have found a few places about an hour or two that have the.different breeds that I like, my son likes, and my husband limes. If we need to build our flock again now I know I have more options. Only thing is we would have to go to a couple of places.
We are going to a local flock swap Saturday to check things out. Going to be fun. Also what is WCA and where is it? I am in Wilmington/ Leland, but sounds Luke fun.

there is a breeder in goldsboro that has chicks dont know what breeds you are looking for...http://www.poultrypeople.com/ I am going today to get 2 easter eggers from them. then my flock is complete for now!

WCA= Wicked Chicken Auction.... Wilson MIlls Rd. Wilson Mills (Clayton area) Every Sun. Auction starts at 2pm... suggest getting there early to get a set, place gets packed.

I have 3 hens I was planning to take to Fay. They are Silkie/Cochin Xs. All are black, smooth feathered, 1 is crested, all have feather legs. They hatched 10/14/11, so are almost 5 months old, not laying yet. PM me if interested.

I'm going to my first flockswap in Sanford on Saturday but I've never been to one. What are they like and what should I expect?

Does anyone know of a breeder here in NC who has quality Delaware chickens? I tried calling the 4H for help finding one but they won't call me back and I'm getting so frustrated especially since the neighbors dog killed 4 of mine last month alone. They're my DH's favorite hens and I wanted to surprise him

What a lovely day today! All the chickens and turkeys and sheep...and dogs!...are loving this. I loved wearing only a sweater instead of a jacket heading to work today. (Came in extra early to meet someone at 6:30) I'm taking half the day for myself so I can go home and enjoy the day, and the birds. And get an incubator set up. I have 4 dozen eggs ready to go into it! Yay chickens!

Good morning everyone! Its an awesome day out.

My veggies seeds have sprouted in their indoor 'green house' - going to go out and put 2 rose bushes in the ground.

Question for Vfem if she ever sees this or anyone else who knows?? When is the best time to start planting bulb flowers mid March right?

May feel like getting around to cleaning out two of the coops that need it. *ugh* my runs are all muddy messes, I need to get a big truck load of sand and crush n run dumped out here. I gotta start working on prepping for that.
