North Carolina

Finally made an executive decision... He's going to the vet today and they're going to put him down for us. Hes losing control of his body functions and seems to be in pain and I can't watch him suffer anymore. Keep us in thought please as this is the first pet I'll have lost that I raised from a baby and it's already hard.

Aww man, I was really hoping he'd pull through! He was so cut! You are doing the right thing though! :hugs:

So, who is going to the Fayetteville flockswrap tomorrow?

Any chance anyone is bringing any pullets that either will soon start or have just started to lay?
If so,what breeds?

So, Ruthann congrats on the baby and hope sll is well with the in-law's. It's hard to seem it is over a year since I bought those little chicks to you...

All is well here, I have 4 silkie hens brooding on 12 to 16 eggs, a Buff Orp hen gone broody on me, and 35 eggs in lockdown, so far it is day 20 and 6 have pipped. They are the Silver Laced Wyandottes.......

So, it could be a busy night tonight or day tomorrow if everything hatches out! I will keep you all updated.....

LOL

Thanks everyone for the advice!! DH wants to give the eggs one more day since momma is still sitting on them before we take them away from her. Then...then I can reintroduce her to the flock and that means...my isolation pen will be EMPTY...you know in case I just HAVE to HAVE MORE...which of course I do!!

Okay, since I've quit raising French Angora rabbits, I have an array of hanging rabbit cages, including quite a few that are 30 inches deep, 24 inches high, and 60 inches long. I'm planning to raise out a few quail in some of them next year, but that makes me look at the others. Is a five foot long cage big enough for a pair or even trio of Seramas or other tiny Bantams? I love looking at them, but don't want them free-ranging with my other birds, and don't think they would stay in a fence very well! If I can keep them comfortably, I may. If it's not a comfortable situation for them though, I won't.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I said I wasn't going to get bantams. So sue me.

Well I've had an absolutely EXHAUSTING day in the garden. Front bed is almost done.... and finishing up the rear large veggie garden as well. Tons of Tomatoes and peppers are finally in the ground, plus 3 triple rows of sweet corn. Peas got hard and bitter fast so pulled those, and harvested ALL the spinach before it got bitter too. Even though my radishes bolted, I'm letting the flower as they help keep away a lot of pests in the garden beds. :)

Potatoes:

Green Bean Tee Pees... for the kids' to play in this summer:

2 of the 3 rows of corn (I planted sun flowers on the ends of the rows):

Full shot of the garden bed:

This is just 1 of several beds I have going, and I still have 3 rows to finish weeding and plant. Will I ever sleep again!!!

You sound a little unsure there.....

What kinds do you have? I'm fascinated with Seramas, Dutch, Japanese...etc., etc., etc....... Those little ones are just adorable. And, if I remember correctly, when you count chickens, by proper chicken math, bantams don't count. Right?
