Whooo I did not know this. I found two wood crates at the produce stand, so they would not let me use those if I brought some birds in them? Wonder why. Glad to know for next time.FYI: Chicks ONLY in cardboard boxes and WCA. They sell crates for $1 each. You can bring them in boxes and they will switch them over for you.
.
You CAN use your own wooden boxes or wire crates or you can buy from them. What Beth was saying is only chicks can be in cardboard boxes. Folks make all kinds of wire and wood crates to sell in but you can use the ones from fruit stands too. I get them at a fruit stand for .50 a box and they work well. If don't have any wooden crates the WCA will sell you one and put your bird into it for you.Whooo I did not know this. Oh Beth here is a picture of the guineas I got from you this weekend. They are doing great. Got upset when I took everyone out of the brooder outside for a little free play. I thought I should wait a bit more on them... they are like super fast.
Yes they are blue - definitely not blacks and they look to be anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks old. VERY cute!I just wanted to post some pictures of the two silkies I got at WCA this past weekend. I still need to take some picks of the buff laced polish chicks, but those chicks are crazy scared of people. One got out and ran under the shed and I spent two hours trying to get it... finally my the grace of God he came out. I got to get them a little calmer so I can take a picture.
I have not a clue how old they are. I believe one is a little older than the other. At the auction they said "black", but when I was looking at them they looked kind of blue(different shades on them).

Ohhhh man I would love some of yours. Your silkies are so beautiful. I wish I lived closer or I would be up there in a heartbeat. I do know the next time I will be going is June 10.Yes they are blue - definitely not blacks and they look to be anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks old. VERY cute!
I may be up at WCA this Sunday with quite a few silkie chicks. I hate it, but I have too many youngsters and teens - and surprisingly quite a few that are going I'm sure are girls.
Ohhh okay. Yeah I guess the little chickies would fall right out.You CAN use your own wooden boxes or wire crates or you can buy from them.
