Hollow, I really admire the agreement you have with your snake friend! I don't mind snakes myself if they aren't a bother to me and I hate when people chop them up without realizing the benefits of them! (Not to say that it's not sometimes understandable to chop them up)

Well, for starters, I just like snakes. For seconds, I'm a biologist, so have a high respect for predators of all shapes and sizes. And then...well, I just like snakes!

Does anyone know anything about South Fourty Poultry (that is how Fourty is spelled). They have an ad on Asheville crag'slist saying they will be at the Whistle Stop in Franklin on 12/12 with 1500 chicks. I could run over there if they are on the up and up, does anyone have any experience with them? I googled but came up with nothing. Thanks!

From what I understand they get hatchery excess cheap to resell. Other then a couple conversations about some birds they were looking for I have not had dealings with them.

Spent the morning enabling NH.

Doublea & I generously donated eggs to her 2 broody hen.

Dropped of 11 chicks...8 Guineas keets & 4 bantam Ameracaunas.... came home with 1 rooster for CSB and 15 bantam Cuckoo Marans eggs.

Had a super yummy lunch...came home to WONDERFUL Surprise !!! I got Mother's Day eggs.

Hollow you are lucky, I wish I could leave mine alone but the DH and neighbors love to make mince meat outta them. So I have to relocate them to the woods where no one is living for a few miles. Moved a black racer yesterday, first one of the year.

My incubator came today in the mail! The eggs I ordered also came today. I'm going to try the dry incubation method as I have been reading good things about it. Got the eggs fat side up waiting for them to settle down from shipping and the incubator is running. Can't wait to set the eggs!

Ok got a question for the incubation gurus out there.….
I've had my new incubator running all day, the humidity is averaging 56% and the temp on the digital thermometer is reading 94-96 degres but the lil thermometer with the red line is reading 99-100 degrees! Which one do I trust? My incubator has thermostat wafer!
