Good Morning!

CSB...Safe trip! (Or, since I love to drive, I could take him and you could stay home and spring clean my house!

The pullet under the barn was out of the hole this morning, but when I went to collect her, she got spooked by the dogs and went back through the hole.

I'll keep an eye out today, and if I see her back out I'll put the dogs in and go out by myself. At least she is coming out, so won't starve to death.

I got my goat disbudding box swapped out for a trio of Lavender Orps. I'll be picking them up today. Good timing, since my lav Orp got hawked. These will be safe in quarentine for a bit.

I have one of my newly hatched turkey poults that has a curled foot. Never had that before. I can straighten it on my finger, so I'm thinking a splint would help, but I don't know what kind or how to apply it. Ideas?

It's a lovely quiet morning. Hope everyone has a great day!

I use cardboard and band aids.

Near the end of June, I'll be making a trip from here (south of Fayetteville) to Augusta Georgia, then to Athens, Georgia, then to Grayslake Illinois, a bit north of Chicago. I'll return by the same path. I can drop off or pick up a reasonable amount of chickens/eggs. Acceptance must be guarenteed, as I can't get stuck with live animals while I'm in a hotel in Illinois!

I'm also interested in finding someone with B/B/S English Orpingtons, FBCMs or Bourbon Red poults that I can get for myself on the way back. Chicks are best, adults are okay, and eggs are third choice for me as my hatch rate is poor.

If anyone wants transport, pm me and I'll let you know exact dates and pathway. I'm driving 14 hours straight through from Athens to Grayslake, so won't be swooping out of my way on the way up. Pickup folks would need to meet me. On the way down I'm taking two days and can loiter a bit, but can only pick up adult birds after the last hotel, somewhere as yet undefined in Kentucky. Eggs can be brought into a hotel room, (and a small amount of chicks can be snuck in too!)

I'm picking up my sis in Athens. She is not a chicken person. She's going to hate me for this!

You might end up hating you for this, too!

The possibility exists, but I'm guessing not. As long as I don't try to overload us. (That's the key!) But I have an Element, and it holds a fair bit, doesn't have carpet to retain chicken smell (I've hauled sheep in my Element!) and I would dearly love to get some stock from further away!

Ok, I need some help! I've got a 6 week old BLRE chick that is puny. She was the smallest out of the 5 I bought at the Chickenstock. She's eating and drinking a lot but just isn't growing fast at all. Her sisters are double her size and almost fully feathered. I have seperated her from the other babies since she was just getting trampled and pushed around a lot. She seems weaker and sleeps A LOT. There's no abnormal poop, temperature, or anything like that. She just doesn't seem right I guess. Any ideas? She's living in my bathroom in her own box with a light, food, and water. I'm a newbie at this so I want to do it right!:/

Chick #1. I took the dividers out and laid the eggs down at 1:40. This SLW hatched at 1:45. The SLW egg on the right front corner is also pipped and I saw another pipped. None of the Marans are pipped yet. I expect those to start 12-24 hours after the SLW.

In a couple hours this one will be moved out to Daisy. With the pipped eggs.

Matt
