Long day today. Seems my niece got in an arguement with her BF on Facebook all night, and they broke up. So I had a despondant teenager on my hands.

She wanted to go home. Her mom tried to tell me not to cater to her, and make her stay. Um. Yeah.

And I am home. And hubby returns from his trip tomorrow. And all is well.

Sigh.
Awwwwwww......poor thing.......and hate you had to take her all the way back already. Glad to see you are back home and doing good

We put Mama C. and her 5 chicks into the grow out coop ( AKA: old rabbit hutch ) . So far, they are staying in the house part, hoping that tomorrow they will venture out so I can see them better! Did reach in a couple times to scoop one up for a little snuggle. Mama C. is much more fiesty than before they hatched!!

Our 20 teens are growing up to fast!! We have 10 Buffs and 10 EE pullets. I love to go sit in their yard and watch them!! One Buff comes over and asks to be picked up everytime!! Of course, I always pick her up!! She tells me about her day, then hops off my lap to go play!!

Question, please, do you call them Olive eggers because of the color of their legs? Does that mean their eggs will be green?

I hope everyone has a great Mem Day weekend, stay safe!!

Wow finally caught up. I've been out of a computer for several days. Stupid thing gave us the blue screen of death, mysteriously cut off by itself, and froze repeatedly. But OF COURSE, when we took it to our IT guy... the daggum thing worked perfectly.

Anyway, in chicken news, the LF youngsters are outside in the dog cage inside the coop. Put the largest Silkie out there but of course, he escaped. Hes vaulted so hopefully he didnt get pecked on the head by my baby-hating-RIRs. No signs of trauma so far

This weekend, the 4 ducklings will go out, leaving me with only the 4 bantams in the house. But theyre quiet and only one is a troublemaker. My "splash" D'uccle. Apparently shes a MF not splash. Oh well, shes adorable and sweet, but only if you can catch her lol she likes to escape and hide under my dresser

Yes......olive eggers lay a green/olive colored egg. Olive eggers are created by crossing a blue egg bird with a brown egg bird and the babies should lay olive eggs if it has a pea comb and of course is a hen. Hope that helps

A 2nd or 3rd grade class at the school where mom works hatched 1 lone chick about a week ago. They went into town and bought 5-6 more day olds to go with it for the kids to see grow for the rest of the school year. Today I found out that Mom helped them setup the brooder box they are using(I was wondering where my other brooder light was). She also looked at the bator setup and told them why they had problems. Seems I have taught her well. LOL.

As a "Thank You" they are giving her the chicks in 2 weeks when school lets out for the summer. That means I get stuck raising chicks. I have no idea if they bought straight run or pullets. They don't know either, so I think I am about to get some Roos to raise and sell.

An older class is running another bator due in just over a week. That one has eggs from cornishX. She flat out turned those down. No way they are coming here. I ain't dealing with the smell of raising those things.
