Good morning folks

Finally Friday!!!!!
yesss.gif

seems plans for the weekend will be
a 'hit-and-miss' kind of deal since we
will have to dodge rain drops both days
barnie.gif

if it doesn't quit raining for several days,
and soon, the crops won't be able to get
harvested and that means higher feed prices
for what little feed we can find........
sure hope it dries up for a week soon

Hope your Friday is a good one

HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!! We are expecting some chicks (14 eggs being sat upon - last I counted) any day now. I am not sure how long these eggs have been sat upon, but this coming Wednesday will mark the 3rd weeks since we left for our mini vacation...so
fl.gif
that we have a good hatch!!
We ARE looking for a few more breeds...if anyone has any Jersey Giants (maybe even a rooster...if they are known to be sweet as a possible replacement), Buckeyes (GO BUCKS), or another type of sweet DP bird, please let us know!! DH is going golfing this Saturday, but when he gets home, we're working on rebuilding/fixing up the coop out back to make room for MORE and tearing down and rebuilding (making larger) our current run!!

That coop will be a grow out pen for meat birds (and extra roosters). After much deliberation...DH decided that while he wants a police box coop...he would never be truly satisfied with it, and thus cannot bring himself to make a TARDIS coop (a tribute to Dr. Who in case anyone is lost...DH LOVES Dr. Who...and if you are friends with me on FB, you saw a posting of one...hehe!!)

Have a great day everyone...just remember...IT'S FRIDAY!!

sorry to hear of your fall Hollow. Glad you were able to get up

NH I got lots of extra roos that are nice.....unfortunately they are fo fo birds as your DH says and you need two in a pot if your doing dinner

Day 24 and still none hatched.....=( I guess if I don't see anything by the morning we will be going to the swap and looking for maybe 2 day olds for her. Anyone bringing anything neat?

I am taking about 30 of our largest roosters this round!
Not sure how many or what sex next round? .... Maybe a little of all ages, sexes, and breeds that are excessive. We have enough for the local eggs. Now the boys will have to work with me on deciding which breeds to work with for next year's breeding.
The hubby was happy

when I said that there were that many that are ready to go!

I think the boys will be happy when they are all sold! This is more of a hobby for me, but a business for the kids; they benefit when all of these extras are gone.

We benefit by not having to buy all that feed!

On a sad note; the corn we have been growing for the birds is not doing well.
hit.gif
To make matters worse.... one of the relatives apparently did not know what it was, and got what was left with the tractor!
barnie.gif
I know it did not look like eating corn, but it did not look like grass either.

What was he thinking???????

Getting rid of my Chinese Ringneck pheasants. Hubby is traveling for work a lot more so I am scaling down. Anyone interested? I'll give you a good deal. Here's what I have:

*Five chicks, ranging from three weeks to six weeks old.

*Two young pairs, not quite laying age yet....and they are gorgeous and healthy.

*An adult trio - not laying as often as they used to, but would be good for someone who wants the eggs occasionally, or to eat em.

Not looking to get rich, but want to free up the pen space and have less mouths to feed.

god darn snake!!!!! Earlier I lost two of Peepers chicks to a snake. So I moved mama and babies into a different house (half growed turkey babies) and put them in a large plastic dog crate. I figured that if the snake found them I would at lest catch the snake this way. Well I get home from feeding horses and go to do waters, today the mama pecks me (has never done this before). I take the water out and clean it than go to put it back, there is a big rat snake with a full belly ( it was hiding under the edge of the water container!!!! Lost another chick leaving me 2 of Peepers babies. But I got my snake, unfortunately its going a long way down the road, as this snake has a liking for chicks and not eggs or mice. It tracked them down! Sorry Hollow, I'd feel bad come spring when your replacement babies got eaten. I would have cut the snake open to save the chick but the body was over half way down the snake, so the baby was eaten last night

Bad thing is I still have a solid black one that I seen a few days ago but wasn't able to catch.
