That's quite all right, RF! One with a belly full of chicks is better relocated to a state forest or something. (i love that you relocate!) I'm quite pleased with the one CSB dropped by on your behalf! I turned it loose in the feed room, as I know the mice nest there even with all the feed in metal drums and trash cans.god darn snake!!!!! Earlier I lost two of Peepers chicks to a snake. So I moved mama and babies into a different house (half growed turkey babies) and put them in a large plastic dog crate. I figured that if the snake found them I would at lest catch the snake this way. Well I get home from feeding horses and go to do waters, today the mama pecks me (has never done this before). I take the water out and clean it than go to put it back, there is a big rat snake with a full belly ( it was hiding under the edge of the water container!!!! Lost another chick leaving me 2 of Peepers babies. But I got my snake, unfortunately its going a long way down the road, as this snake has a liking for chicks and not eggs or mice. It tracked them down! Sorry Hollow, I'd feel bad come spring when your replacement babies got eaten. I would have cut the snake open to save the chick but the body was over half way down the snake, so the baby was eaten last night
Bad thing is I still have a solid black one that I seen a few days ago but wasn't able to catch.![]()
I'm sorry about your chicks, though. After doing all the work to raise them, it hurts when something comes along and eats them.

I did have a nice visit with CSB today. I made her put on plastic boot covers to walk about so she didn't take anything home with her, then made her come out and admire my turkey poults. The cross is prettier, to my mind, than either of the purebreds they are from. (BR and RP). I needed to show them off! I'll be wearing boot covers when I go anywhere there are chickens too, even after the quarantine is lifted. And my Boys also loved having her visit, and she petted them all up and made them happy.
