Send the rain my way. Only a small mist this morning in Franklin in over two weeks. Very dry this year. can't help anyone on the roo front. I ordered eggs from peachick and only two hatched. One postal problem and to my way of thinking not enough packing. But they are both roos. One has a home this Sat. but the other a wheaten needs one too. He is a sweety , only about 14 weeks
old.
Sorry I have not posted much lately on the boards. I had a bad fall. I now still can barely type. I am originally from a little town on the coast named Shallotte. def. a NC'er. Gloria Jean

Good Morning, Everyone!

The rabbit breeder finally emailed me back last night...said he'd had to go out of town unexpectedly. Okaaaaayyy. At any rate, I'll be going to pick up the rabbits today. First gotta get the sheep wormed, and I have a few other chores to take care of. But I'll pick up a bred doe and a young buck.

Fall break for us the latter half of the week, so I've made a list of things I want to get done. We'll see how much I actually Do get done!

Enjoy the day!

No water this morning. Grump, grump, grump. Check valve isn't working. Hubby is off to Lowe's to try to get a new one to put in. We were going to deworm sheep this morning, but that gets to wait until this afternoon now. And I'll try to move up the pickup on the rabbits, but I don't think I should call until at least 9:00 on a Sunday morning. So much for my carefully laid plans for the day.

I am so excited! I am in Bryson City....just across the mountain from Franklin! It has been so lonely on this end of the state! Glad to make your acquaintance!

I keep thinking that these EE's should be laying any day, they free range so I keep checking under the bush and boat where they hang out. I sold 2 of my BO hens...my babies... and the guy called and said if you have any more please let me know, those are the sweetest chickens and I can sure tell they have been taken care of and handled. Made me proud. The cooler weather is slowing the growth of the grass down, which is good on the one hand as our mower bit the big one and really can't spare the expense until next spring. But on the other hand it is making the chicken tractor placement hard on the yard. The babies won't have long lush grass full of sweet bugs for a few months I am afraid.
3 more huge candy roasters to do something with! I took one to the wife of the lady that owns one of the local commercial farms and she gave me a box of canning tomatoes in exchange. I like that kind of business! I have given them to family members and sold them, who would have ever thought I could grow this many candy roasters. But I used some to make pumpkin soup the other day and it was totally delish! Made my tongue slap my brain silly!

Hope everyone has a glorious day!

I can relate to that. Last Sunday morning I woke up got my chores caught up and went to shower....no hot water. I go to check the water heater (which is luckily in an outside shed) and find myself ankle deep in deliciously warm water. :/ everything else around here is going alright. Finally got started on painting the kitchen. So now let's see how long I can procrastinate on this project!!! Haha have a good day everyone

I used to live in Franklin, right there off of 64 on the way up to Highlands. That is such a gorgeous area!! :)

Made my trip to pick up the rabbits today, and was pleasantly surprised. Judging by the photos they had on their website, I did expect good rabbits, but these guys are huge! The buck they bred my doe to is tremendous, with a wonderfully broad back and wide loin. Plus, he's unrelated to both my doe and my buckling, so I can save a doe or two from this litter to breed with this buck if I want. Not cheap, but for what I got, not expensive, either. I'm well pleased.
