I was MIA ............... glad to meet you

I know it's cold here but not as cold as it was
up north and I still think SNOW is a four letter
swear word......

.......NO snow here.........
seen enough of it and it ADDS to the cold.......brrrrrr

got home late last night so off to check/hug on the crew
and unpack......hope everyone has a good day and stays warm

Just added a few ice cubes to the chickens water to warm it up a bit.

Looks like a few of my four month old pullets are getting an early start to their egg laying careers. Over achievers.

My Buffs are 7 months old and they are now all officially laying. Got an egg from each of them yesterday....little did they know what weather woes today would bring!
Stay in, warm and safe today if you can...for those of us that HAVE to work..be careful out there!

BRRRRRRRRR! I have the worst luck! The thing went off and didn't come back on, So i left it alone, tried it before bed and it came on. It ran ALLLLLL night long and wouldn't turn off!

I have a friend that does HVAC and he is being nice and coming over at lunch today to get this thing fixed. Hope everyone stays warm!

Drove out to town for some supplies and it is getting slick out there! BUT I was able to get a fresh supply of grit, oyster shells and two bales of wood shavings and put them in the run to keep it from getting muddy after whatever we get melts. Moved by babies water into the coop to keep it from freezing since I have the light on in there to keep them warm. So, is everyone else ready for our brief run with winter weather?

They are letting school out at 11:30 today so I will go grab a few supplies then. We had some snow earlier today and the kids just went nuts! LOL! I hope I can get my errands done before the roads get slick here in Forsyth County/Kernersville area. My coup water never freezes but the hanging ones in the outside have to be broken in the mornings if it gets down below 25 at night. I've ordered heated waterers but they won't be here until Tuesday Fortunately, the chickens and guineas know that the dogs have a heated water bowl on the front porch and they drink out of it all the time, anyway.

We have heated waterers for our horses and they have plenty of fresh round bales of hay (and blankets on) so I think everyone is set for the cold snap. I'm just so glad for the frozen ground - it means no mud right now!!

Well its almost Noon ans so far we have only had a sprinkling of sleet. Nothing to horrible and no sign of anything else............yet. its still 22 degrees here BRRRRR! Had to fill a tub up outside with boiling water to defrost all the waterers, which were frozen solid, after they were all 'warmed' up, I dumped the remaining water on the duck "pond", dumped the ice out and filled it with the hot water, the ducks are no squished in and "boiling" I am watching them out the kitchen window and there is steam rising up around them. Spa day for the duckys.

I was ALL excited because I saw some pretty flakes all nice and big...that lasted a whole 10 minutes and now we have nothing!! Let's just say I am glad the kiddos were asleep and didn't know what they were missing. To make myself feel better..I'm making a hot fudge cake...oh yeah, it's baking away right now!! With chocolate in the house...I can handle anything!! LOL
