Meg, yes, but in my case the nickname isn't short for Meghan. Meg is my initials from my maiden name. However, I have a niece named Meghan in my honor!

cool is sware its the most common name....
It seems to be more common now. It wasn't when I was a teen, which is why my friends started calling me Meg and it stuck. Everyone calls me that except my parents. They still call me by my given middle name. Oh, and of course, anything official is done with my first name. I answer to just about anything!

Does anyone have info on the next Chicken Swap?
the one at Cedar Creek in the Fayetteville area
is the first Saturday every month. The one at TSC
on Raeford Rd is the first and third Saturday every
month but I have been told they are doing it every
Saturday now........not sure how true that is

I haven't had good results with either the eggs I got or the chicks I ordered. The eggs I get from you will be their last shot with me. If I can't hatch and start them for whatever reason, I don't need them. Mine are livestock, not pets. Mostly. I would love to have Brahmas, but not if every strain I get my hands on doesn't like me!

Every single egg had a fully developed chick in it :( but two days before hatch day, we had a bad storm/ice and our power blinked on and off for 6 hours and the bator would cool down, and never could get reheated before the power would shut back off :(

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Wild, that gives me hope! Of course, one one of my batches was chicks. Three different breeds in at the same time, and only the Dark Brahmas having issues. But I find them fascinating, so will try again with your eggs, and those from Beth's source, too.

Got a lot done yesterday outside. Even got all the weeks grading done after supper! (No major exam to grade). So today is for errands...and housework. Yay. Not.

Enjoy your day!

5 days old and almost doubled in size and starting to get their fur.

And here is the proud mama

And a picture of the only chicks that hatched.

(Luke and Jon, I didn't get hardly any brahmas to hatch(only 7 chicks total, and out of that only 3 brahmas). I just set some more, so we will try again.)
it happens... better luck next time

Ohhh,Yay, JD, I was hoping for a seed-starting buddy! I started turnips, green peppers, cayenne peppers, jalapeno peppers and onions in the house over the past month, and all are seedlings now. I also started Boston Fern spores. All of the above (except the fern, which needs a while) are seedlings, LOVE these little green buggers when they pop out of the soil. I also started watermelon and lettuce that didn't germinate. Try, try again.
I just did some chinese 5 color peppers and some red peppers no hot ones yet.. My cherry peppers gave me peppers till new years so I have enough pickled to last a life time
