Good morning folks

I see the first blooms of azaleas opening and
I can hardly wait for the big burst of blooms.
It is so pretty in the spring when the azaleas
are in full bloom with the wisteria and all the trees.

for me that is a sign of spring

hope your day is a good one

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

CSB, I have been watching the buds swell on my crabapple. That little tree is awesome in spring.

I still haven't seen any tent caterpillars, though!

I'm still exhausted from yesterday. Today will be a long one.

Enjoy your day!

Hoping to get my garden ready this next week or so.
We are putting in raised beds and a couple potato caddies.
Having a time finding topsoil.
Anyone from Fayetteville know where I should try?

Next week is passover, so, I am busy cleaning and getting ready.
Having our first passover Seder here at home (a big dinner with the story of the Jews leaving Egypt).
Then the next week end I have a craft fair. I am so not ready for it yet.

try a place that has horses or has had birds for a few years, that's the best kind of garden dirt

I have never bought dirt or fertilizer, I just use from the birds or go to moms house and get some from the horse pens

That sounds SO cool!! When our girls get older we are hoping to be able to do a full passover meal (although I still have a LOT of research to do!!) and teach them about the Exodus! We too had a hard time finding GOOD topsoil and ended up going with a company in Raleigh...NOT happy with them at all as I was told we were getting "premium" organic soil - since when does organic soil have glass, beer & soda cans and plastic in it?? Talk about highway robbery!!

We have a funny rooster (now named Houdini) who has escaped every night from his enclosure!! This morning we find her "perched" atop the run (how he got up there I have NO idea) crowing to his heart's content!!

I guess he's trying to convince us that he is meant for more than just freezer camp?!?

Side note: for those of you who have been praying for us. We spent all day yesterday at Duke's Children's Hospital with our youngest and after seeing 3 specialists the overall conclusion was that she is a PERFECTLY TYPICAL baby and unless her current "symptoms" worsen or fail to improve, they do not want to see her back again!

Aside from being exhausted, I am utterly relieved and I am looking forward to a good nights rest (whatever that IS these days...LOL)!!

Thank you all for your support during these past 7 months of waiting & not knowing!!

I am so glad she is ok.

Good morning! After a nearly sleepless night, I'm sitting down to drink some coffee and eat some oatmeal and of course check BYC!

Duckling update: We now have 5 ducklings, with 4 more that are pipped and active.

We lost 3 eggs that didn't make it. At least one had internally pipped, but died before it could externally pip.

I fell asleep on the couch last night waiting for #5 to hatch. It woke me up at 12:30am, I then stayed up for a little bit longer, then went up to bed after assuring myself it was ok. Then my hubby wakes me up when he came upstairs (he had also fallen asleep on the couch) at 2am. then we both bolt out of bed at 3:30 to the awful sound of 3 of our ducks, that didn't go into the coop last night, sounding like they were being attacked right under our bedroom window. We ran outside, looked all over, found 3 of them hiding under our long hedge, but no matter what, we couldn't convince them to come out and go in the coop. We searched for the other one, but couldn't find her. Found a skunk in the barn, next to the coop...wondering if they were warning about that?? This morning we wake up to all the ducks wandering in the yard. So glad they're all ok, but after last night, measures will be taken (herding them) to get them all in the coop at night.

NH, so glad to hear your little one is ok! It must be such a weight off your shoulders!

AB, sorry you got another coon. I'm fairly certain we're not sending them to you, although I can't be 100% sure, since I've not seen a coon here since we moved. Possum, skunks and coyotes we have seen.
