Wouldn't it have dark skin, though? Hmmmm- frizzled cochin + silkie = sizzle; maybe it could have yellow skin. Wattels are cochin length, but the comb isn't standard for either breed (although supposedly the single comb is recessive and can pop up in silkies}.

The most fun I have with the barnyard mixes is hatching from my buff silkie x oegb rooster. I get so many different color chicks from this cross! And skin color is usually 50/50. They usually have 5 toes but I've had 6 and also 4 and combs are 50/50 walnut vs single. Oh and the little crests the offspring get are so cute! :)

I'm so excited ... We r getting a white frizzle Serama rooster sat...and 4 babies 2 smooth 2 frizzle that she thinks r also roos. Lol...I will need hens ... So I reckon I'm stilll gonna hatch me some ! Lol... I'm so excited ! She hasn't handled the white roo much recently she said but with seramas temperment so friendly I wonder if he would tame right up...white is the only color accepted now by apa aba so as long as he's fabulous the boys want to take him to winston Salem to show..I think frizzle is accepted ..

Good morning everyone. Hope y'all are having a great morning so far.

Does anyone know of a 4H group in or near Burlington/Graham/Mebane/Hillsborough areas? I'm looking into getting my kids involved in 4H this year, especially since we'll most likely be home schooling in the fall.

Call you agriculture extension office....usually found with the govt things in your county seat...4-H is great and a wonderful place for your kids to be able to be social,,and especially to learn ......so many things they can work on...doesn't have to be farm related. Could be cooking, safety, sewing, gardening, or animals....etc. Good luck

You may find that there are certain groups that specialize in certain things....like we have a group who works with horses/showing, and a sewing group, and our group is one who everyone shows animals....

Awesome! Thank you! I was in 4-H when I was a kid, and really enjoyed it, and I want my kids (ages 5-11) to experience the same. I remember the cooking and animals part the most (my two passions after family). I had a rabbit that when my parents bought her they thought she was a he, so I named her Fredrich. Then we found out that Fredrick was a Fredricka. She won a blue ribbon in a 4-H show (I can't remember what breed, but she looked like a Flemish, and I remember she was huge, at least to my 6 year old self), she would have won the best of ribbon, but she was a touch too big for her breed. That's all I remember... lol. It's funny what we remember from when we're kids, you know, what sticks with us and what doesn't.

CRICKIT R 4 You are right...4-H is awesome and does give kids those special memories.... I grew up in it....raised my kids in it,(both are grown..like 38 and 41 yrs),,,,,and now my grandkids are in it....one in with her lambs, one in a sewing and the other is in a group teaching gun safety and competition

You may not be able to show there this year as they do
have deadline dates for entries. You will need to check
with the folks putting on the show for those dates.
Good luck
