I only have 2 stuck up Serama mix roosters that are in cages. With some girls of course. They are father & son and just don't know when to quit and I have some REAL big roosters. Hmmmm... I will have to get some pics of them. I have 14 that I am sure of. Plus the babies. I will be weeding them out in the next month or two. All in all they get along. I have almost 9 acres, so they all break off into groups to freerange. That old ugly black Silkie is the boss! All he needs to do is growl and the rest run for their lives.

Were they hatched this week? I must have missed that one. by look of the feet of the closet to the camera, I'd say rooster..

with my luck.

The little BLRW is not doing good at all. Legs are really messed up. I know what I need to do, but will wait until morning when everyone is still sleeping.

Hi all! What a gorgeous day today, we took full advantage of it. Trimmed back lots of trees, cleaned a few pens and even moved a few girls around.

My asparagus is coming up, does that mean spring is here!

Had 7 babies hatch between yesterday and today. 5 of my English orps, one being soo big I had to help as it had no air cell and took up the entire egg. Hatch two bantam orps one black and finally got a blue. Both are new blood for my flock so crossing fingers they do well.

Will get some pictures of them in a day or two when they fluff up a bit more.

I set my 1st eggs tonight! My house warmed up so quickly with this weather I got worried about the eggs "resting" at too warm of a temp so went ahead and put them in. So far temp and humidity have been great! Only issue was that right after I put the eggs in the temp rose quickly. I was expecting the temp to go down for a bit, not warm up quickly! Shows how much I know. Luckily the incubator is right in my kitchen so I pass it every couple of minutes and can check on things. And my homemade hatcher is coming along nicely. I got the aquarium out of the attic and all cleaned up, pulled out a bunch of my wildlife supplies and put a heating pad in the bottom covered by a rubber padding thingy and then a nice soft old baby blanket (which I have thousands of), and then put the humidifier in, threw in a thermometer and hygrometer, covered it with plexiglass and then a blanket and decided to see what happened while I got my kids fed and whatnot. I had the humidifier turned up WAY too high because the whole thing fogged up quickly and read 90something on the hygrometer so it took me a little fiddling to get it at 65%, but once I did it has stayed there! The temp is too low still - right at about 92, so I'm going to work on that tomorrow. But I really feel like once I insulate and add more heat I will be able to get it right!! I guess I have 18 days to get it perfect, huh!?!?

Hope tomorrow is as beautiful as today! Got lots of work to do on the coop!!!
