okay went a got 1 egg at a time wrapped it in a towel to keep it from cooling to fast. went into the hall closet, I could see a shadow in the egg, but no veins, I very gently moved the egg from side to side and could tell theres something solid in there. Just don't know if it's a chick. my one hen is sitting on nothing but Brahma eggs the little bantam is just about got a bantam egg hatched, if these are not going to hatch can I give her newly laid eggs from today and let her continue to sit? or will that be too much on her body? Theres no place around here to buy baby chicks. Or will she just give up on her own if they don't hatch in a couple of days. today is 21. I feel so bad for her that she has set all this time and might not have nothing to show for it.

need some expert advice.

ML... if there was a chick in the egg and it is day 21, it would look very dark and you wound see the air sac on top. If it is just a blob like a yoke then not fertile. Leave the eggs, give her a few more days, maybe the eggs are behind. I will try to get a pic for you, I have egg going to lockdown tomorrow.. BRB.............

Moore COunty

Can anyone help me with an issue I am having.. One of my chickens was sneezing today.. How serious is that and what should I do for the one and the rest?

Occational sneezing ok, everyone does.... sneezing like a cold ? running eyes ?? nose ??? There is a thread for disease/injuries, I would post there. You will need to includes as much info as you can.. Age, symtoms, etc. Did you buy them from a hatchery, locally.... good luck, keep us posted !

Egg with nothing..... (Actually on day 4, has not started to develope) just to compare.

Day 12

Day 18 ..due Mon. will most likely hatch Sunday. (these always hatch early)

When the sneezing occurs I do feel wet spots hit my hands and arms but I dont know if that would fall inthe "runny nose" category.

Thanks beth, I hope i can call you Beth, I have before,

anyway I went out and got the eggs one at a time brought them in and candled was pretty sure nothing. so broke one open just on the verge of exploding I'd say. smelled awful. so did the others all were no good. So now I have a hen with one chick, will it be okay? and another hen with none, I put 2 bantam eggs just laid today under her till I know what I should do with her. These will be fertile. Should I just take them and force her off the nest and try to break her broodiness, or see if she'll sit for 21 more days how is that on their health? I feel so sad for her, I really though my bantam roo was mating with the Brahma girls. Sure looked like it. I just need advise on what I should do for my hen, and if this chick will be okay as a only child. Looked on Craigs list for chicks and none around our area. and TSC has none either. so Don't know what to do. great candleing pics by the way.

Keep us posted... I would hate to hear you got a bunch of sick chicks
