North Carolina

I didn't know but I thought I would ask. Would anyone be interested in a female parrotlet? My mom got her last week and we found out I am allergic to her

We have had to put her in the garage because of it

She is 2 and a half months old and my mom is working with her on "Step Up" We are just asking what we paid for her.

I lost another young hen this morning. I was out there at 7am, she was eating, back out at 8am and she was dead.

I called the vet, now we just play the waiting game to see if he will start to eat. He said give him about 6 hours then call back unless I need him sooner. Lets hope not

Thanks everyone. I think it was 102 yesterday with heat index 109. My mother reports the weather hourly to me

It is overcast right now and 96. It is so humid, can't wait for the rain .

My horse took a few sips of water, still not eating.

Are the birds eating them yet? Seriously, that is one way to tell.

When the fig starts to look slightly wilted at the stem, try to pick it. The ripe ones come off the branch very easy. Pick a few very ripe ones and eat them. Next try one that doesn't come off the tree quite so easy. There is a range to acceptable picking.

To eat a ripe fig: hold the stem in your fingers. Bite up to your fingers. Feed the stem and the tiny bit of fruit to the chickens... or throw across the yard. Don't want to drop them to rot under the tree. The stem and the top of the neck of the fruit have the sap. Very bitter.

Rather than let the chickens to the fig trees, I think I would pick up the over ripe bits and carry them to the chickens. The chickens would be like the wild birds and eat straight off the tree and ignore the ground. Groundhogs like figs, too.

Hope this helps. I think it's raining here.
