We have acquired a pot-belly pig. I did NOT want one, but she was in need of rescue, and I couldn't say no. She is a joy. Her name is Bella, and she is a year old. I am learning every day. She lives in the barn (makes a comfy bed out of shavings in "her" stall) and roams around outside all day. She makes us laugh all the time, what a character. We have so many stories already. I guess she has found a forever home.........

Haha, that's awesome. When I was a little girl my mother always threatened that if I didn't keep my room clean she was going to get a pot-bellied pig and throw it in there with me. I was horrified by the pigs and I really thought she was serious. Pot-bellied pigs and idle threats = sly mothering? :)

We have one coming with our chick order in April. They seem to be an interesting breed, I especially like the idea of chicken mouse hunter.
any chicken worth their feathers will eat a mouse, the problem comes in that the mice don't normally come into the chicken's area til after dark when the birds are asleep

Beth, this is one of the little guys I got from you a couple of weeks ago. Have you ever seen anything like this before?

He is black with blue mottling even in his shank feathering. If i spread his wings, the coloring is almost barring. I think I will hold on to him to see what happens as he grows.
