Does anyone on here do any beekeeping? Got my first queen coming next week!
We are starting bees this year. We just took a class, and have joined our local and state.

Make lots of honey little bees. We are even adding more garden for them.

:lau   Good thing we're planning on having more in the future...so he will have a few more chances to get a boy...LOL, although I did tell him that we would ADOPT a boy if necessary.  He is the end of his family's namesake/line.  However, that being said, God knows exactly what we need and will bless us accordingly.  Now the LONG process of choosing a name begins!!  LOL

:hugs   You all are wonderful!!

O O O I have the perfect name Meredith!

Good morning folks

I think my frizzled EE pullets should start layiing
and then I can pick through to see who I will keep
and who will find new homes. If I remember right
they should be just about POL........ and any who
turn out to be OE will go into the egg project.......
exciting times are ahead

My little girl is so excited.

One of my slw chicks looks like she/he is getting a comb. They are a week old. I am betting she is a he. oops.

Congrates on your little girl. I was blessed with 3 boys and one girl. Can't imagine having more than one girl. LOL

CSB - Thank you for the suggestions, but we have already promised family members that we would NOT do an "E" name!! LOL, Apparently they were already tongue tied with the 2!! We are leaning towards Jessalyn - after my very best friend (not to mention it's a unique name), but right now, nothing is sticking. I think I am still in shock. My dad called me to comfort me...he tells me my grandfather's first patient had 12 girls and when they finally gave up on having a boy, she "accidentally" got pregnant and had a boy. LOL. Not sure how that is comforting as I certainly do NOT want 12 girls - imagine the hormones...WORSE, the weddings!!

I think I'd start my own convent or something (haha probably a MENTAL institution)!! LOL

RF - I think I have given up hopes for a boy...especially since we've "broken the mold" - everyone in our immediate families have had 3 children: 2 girls and a boy - although they all stopped at 3 and we plan for more, so my theory is that it's still possible to follow up these 3 girls with 3 boys...but I am NOT going to set myself up for disappointment. LOL Besides, girls are WAY more fun to dress!!

No chicken news to share aside from the loss of our one BR last night. Excited to see these bullies get put in their place when they are re-homed!! I do hope to see some video or photos of the boys getting picked on at least once and the girls getting told who's boss!! LOL - at least having one of the alphas hold onto "tail feathers" and ripped a few dozen out would be "fair". LOL. DH was teasing that he heard from a co-worker that guinea and rice is a Puerto Rican delicacy that he is going to have to miss out on now that we aren't "doing away with them". LOL (He's relieved, don't let him fool you!!) Now to start focusing on our meet birds order and figuring out the concept of fermented feed ratios!! LOL

NH, I got rid of my guineas for the same reason...ganging up on my chickens. In addition to that, the final straw was going out to check and finding all the chickens huddled at the chickenhouse....while those "watchdog" guineas were out foraging under the tree the hawk was sitting in. After that I figured 100 chickens could eat more bugs than a dozen guineas, and off they went. No more guineas for me!

Love the name Jessalyn! I keep a running list of unusual names of my students...for naming sheep and chickens! Jayna and Brenna are two currents.

NH just make sure everyone can say it...my youngest has what I thought was an easy name Alicia (A lee c a hope this helps with how to say it right), its not different or hard or even off the wall....

well almost everyone calls her Alisha

Good luck on the name hunt

NH there's always the spelling issue too. My name is Christen (pronounced Chris-ten) and I get called or get my name spelled: Christine, Christian, Crystal (???), so I just tell everyone that my name is Cricket (my nickname). I haven't gone by Christen since I was 6 months old!! It's what I prefer, it's easy to spell and hard to forget...
