Anyone have a blue egg layer near Fayetteville?
My girl has disappeared. The coop was left open (human door not chicken door) and now she is gone. No signs of predators.

Oh, here is a head scratcher though, out of my 12 chickens, all but three have recently begun to sleep UNDER the chicken coop

Last time that happened to me, it was a predator that was coming by at night. I ended up trapping the critter and relocating him. a couple of nights later the girls were back on their roost.
Not sure if that is your problem, but something is making them hide...
My dog has been harassing them I know and he can see them under the coop. To me this would make me think they'd want to stay as far away from there as possible!!! There seems to always be at least one or two under there. I did notice, it is only the roosters ( I know I need to get rid of one or two of them but haven't had the heart to yet) that sleep in the coop. The hens all go under it instead.

The roosters are probably harassing them on the roosts, and they would rather sleep on the ground then near the boys. You also my want to try fencing the under part of the coop off for a couple days to re teach them sleep in the coop.

I would use a shock collar

I've bought some extra bedding that I plan to cram under there to make it in-accessible to them for a while. Hopefully that will work. I'll have to put it out after I get home from work.

Wildriverswolf: can't get to the webpage to "like" it. When I click on it, it gives me an message that says the page isn't available right now. Tried earlier too.

I'm in Johnston Co, NC. Nice to see there's a lot of local folks here!
Right now I'm on an incubation frenzy!! I have Pekin duck eggs that I sell for hatching, and I have some EE chicks that I'm selling as well. Once my egg production picks up (because my hens are lazy in the winter, and that's fine with me) I'll have Americauna chicks/egg, as well as gaming eggs, Comet/Am, and Black Jersey Giant/Am eggs. Once my guineas start laying I'll probably be looking to sell some of those too. I'm just starting to get into the raising and selling aspect of chickens, even though I've been a flock owner for about 3yrs now.
