Happy Sunday y'all!

The past few days, I have been noticing that my pretty little SLW pullet Louise is getting some red on her beak. Well... more than her counterpart, Miss Millie. Today, i picked her up for closer examination - I am going to be DEVISTATED if she is a he. I live in a neighborhood where I don't think the neighbors will appreciate a roo. Before I offer her {him} up - what do you think?

And noooooo!!! Little waddles at 4-5 weeks

I think she is a she.

Here's some pics of the addition. Just need to get roof on and put up wire and then we can open it up for business. I do want my DH to add a few more nesting boxes as well, but it's not something that has to be rushed.

Good morning folks

it has been a much needed rain here for us
and I'm happy we got some.......just would
rather it was at night or during the week so I
can get things done on the weekends

Just reinforcing this post. There are a few of us here on this thread that have been through this - despite what we thought were good efforts at quarantining. It doesn't take a sick bird to bring illness to your flock. Sometimes a healthy bird can get sick from the stress of the auction/trip to your home, and then pass on to your birds at home. This is knowledge that ALL backyard bird owners need to know.
alot of this stuff can be brought in to your chickens by wild animals like birds, and and all. Fowl Pox comes in by mosquitoes

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

I love the rain! Even though we have four dogs to dry off every time they come in, I still love the rain. I miss living in the rainforest.

Enjoy the day!

Looks great Michele!!!

I think I need to build another coop. Apparently my hens don't want to share the coop with my 3 month old pullets (even though there's a lot of room), they all slept outside on their outdoor roost all night in the rain! I'm afraid they're going to get sicker! Even opened the run door so they could come on the patio which is their hangout during the day when it rains, but they wouldn't budge. Stubborn chickens!

The Evil-Me can't wait to hear how your neices/nephews deal with "real life" at your house. I know how busy you are going to be, but I hope we get a report, just for entertainment-sake.

I agree. I hope we get to share in the fun!

I will see what I can do. Perhaps I will be able to video tape the complaining so you all can get a FIRST HAND experience!! LOL

Just for you Hollow, the stuff my NIGHTMARES are made up of...here is the photo DH took of the mama spider and her youngsters...I have such a HARD time looking at it as it gives me the heebie-jeebies:

DH is on night shift this week, so it ought to be an interesting week trying to keep the girls quiet enough for him to sleep and yet still get all the stuff done that needs to be done (laundry, dishes, chores, etc...) I hope the rain lessens, as I'd REALLY like my garden to thrive and NOT become a flood zone!! Glad everyone had fun at WCA - I was there in thought at least!!

Have a wonderful day!! Grab a towel and go play in some mud puddles!!
