On the topic of worms... I have been meaning to ask how often do you all recommend worming for the sandhills area? Also, what time of year? At what age do you start worming young chickens? I only found out last year that I should have been worming... now I am trying to get on a schedule and do it right. Then figure out what else I am not doing!

I worm a minim of 2 Xs a year...more if needed. I look for the signs of worms...too much foamy mustard poops..poopy butts...the actual worms.
I like to worm in winter...then early spring, before egg production really starts up. ( the hens are usually molting anyway)

Does TSC sell Valbazen? I can order it from Jeffers Livestock comes pretty quick. Will they be OK until I can get some? Seems like I was out there the rest of the day looking at poop. Didn't see any. I don't know who they are coming from, all 6 act like nothings wrong. After this treatment do you do it again in the winter maybe and then again in the Spring?

Yes..retreat in the winter. I get Valbazen from my Ace Hardware or Southern States

Ok, so is this dose correct: 1/2 cc for standards in a syringe, some are using bread, and do the same dose 10 days later. If I understand you do it this one time, then redose in 10 days.

We didn't buy anything either. If anyone takes any birds to WCA... don't put too many birds in the boxes, put frozen water bottles in their crates (Beth's idea) , or at least some water. Some poor birds got too hot on sunday and died.

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Heading to Georgia today, as they are doing another cardiac ablation on my dad. The first one failed. :(

Going from there to my MDA clinic appointment in Charlotte Thursday. I'm hoping to get the leg brace downsized to just a knee support. Cross your crossables!
