I just thought that I should share that I got the nicest little laying hens from Hollow this weekend! She was very helpful and such a nice person. Instead of just saying "Here are your chickens," she showed us around and even let us pick out our own hens. Now we have two Road Island Reds and three Buff Orpingtons. They are beautiful and so nice! Excuse our set up. It is our temporary situation until we can fix something else up better. I have fallen in love with Orpingtons! I have one 11 week old splash Orpington that is as sweet as can be. They are just so sweet and nice. Their eggs are also nice sized, just wished they were a little darker, but I'm not going to be picky if they stay this nice!!! I really love these guys. We haven't had our rooster in with them at all since we got them on Sunday, but will let him with them soon. Also we got a little Dark Brahma when we got our Splash because we couldn't just make her leave her friend. Anyways the Brahma loves bugs and was wondering if this goes for all or most Brahmas, because we would be interested in more if they want to take down our insect population! Also my mom, since the Brahama is hers, wants to know what she will look like when she is older. Anyone have any pics they could share to give me an idea? I know I could use google images but I would much rather hear from my beloved chicken people! Also anyone know how large Brahma's eggs turn out? Thanks!
she will look much like she does now, keep the same coloring and all. I caught my little chickens grasshoppers, worms, crickets etc on a daily basis and feed it to them, so thats probably why she loves bugs so much :D my brahmas lay large brown eggs.

We live on a side street like 3 houses down from the main road.
We were out today and I saw a box turtle that was hit by a car. He seems to be okay, but he lost a leg. He was laying on the side of the road not moving.
I brought him to my yard, put some neosporin on his wound, and have him a dish of fresh water and some kale.
I have a large hutch/coop that I ordered online when I first got chicks. It has an upstairs and the bottom just goes to the ground. I put him in the bottom on a spot with lots of tall grass just to keep him safe while he is healing.
I know some states it's illegal to bring in wild box turtles, though it's not like I captured a healthy one and I'm keeping it inside in a little aquarium, I have it outside trying to help it.
Does anyone have box turtles?
When it's better I was thinking I would let it loose in my yard like the bunnies. If it wanted to leave it would have that option, but I would provide it with food and water and whatnot if it wanted to stay.

What sort of things would you need to care for them? I know indoor turtles and water turtles you have heat lamps, but it's not like they use them in the wild. I had little water turtles as a child, but it's been awhile.

Most of all the Brahmas I come into contact with have been great hunters! Love bugs, frogs, anything that moves!
