I think my toddler stepped on it-- my husband let her come in with him when he was feeding them and shortly after I noticed it.
They have a small roost that he wouldn't have gotten hurt from and the bigger one they are too small to get up on yet.

I have a chick with a puncture wound and that was Monday when I noticed it it happened Sunday though because that's when her little beak was a little bloody. I put neosporin on it everyday 2 times and wash it with antibacterial soap and she's doin great she can actually move her wing around now. The wound was on her left side and was hidden by her wing. :( but she's so much better and back to trying to rough house with her brother. Lol. It's scary though. :( ill say a prayer for your hen!

At least the rain is good for the garden. I am kind of enjoying this wet day.

Neosporin works great!
My one chick that had it's side ripped open by the hawk in my pen completely healed from using it.
Hope yours is better soon!

Thanks for the tip on poultry podiatry! I have his little leg braced, I hope he recovers. He's still eating and drinking, but he's not leaving the coop and won't put weight on the leg.

Had to share this chinchilla cuteness :)

I just thought that I should share that I got the nicest little laying hens from Hollow this weekend! She was very helpful and such a nice person. Instead of just saying "Here are your chickens," she showed us around and even let us pick out our own hens. Now we have two Road Island Reds and three Buff Orpingtons. They are beautiful and so nice!

Excuse our set up. It is our temporary situation until we can fix something else up better. I have fallen in love with Orpingtons! I have one 11 week old splash Orpington that is as sweet as can be. They are just so sweet and nice. Their eggs are also nice sized, just wished they were a little darker, but I'm not going to be picky if they stay this nice!!! I really love these guys.

We haven't had our rooster in with them at all since we got them on Sunday, but will let him with them soon.

Also we got a little Dark Brahma when we got our Splash because we couldn't just make her leave her friend. Anyways the Brahma loves bugs and was wondering if this goes for all or most Brahmas, because we would be interested in more if they want to take down our insect population!

Also my mom, since the Brahama is hers, wants to know what she will look like when she is older. Anyone have any pics they could share to give me an idea? I know I could use google images but I would much rather hear from my beloved chicken people!

Also anyone know how large Brahma's eggs turn out?

Thanks!

About the brace for the leg...I had a chicken break its leg a few months ago and I didn't splint it just wrapped it really good straight and it healed perfectly. Although now she's so spoiled! She won't sleep in the coop she still sleeps inside in her little box! Lolol!

looked out at the chicken run and sitting in the middle of all the chickens was a little bengal kitten! They were just staring at each other. I went out to save the kitten but it ran away!

DST, thanks! That's nice of you to say! I notice you politely refrained from saying I made you wear goofy and awkward boot covers to be able to see my place. I should have taken pictures!

Glad you're enjoying your birds. :)
