North Carolina

That was good info so I should say he is an easter egger... gotcha. Yea I bought him and 15 other chicks from Southern States in June. Thank you so much for the accurate description.

Not a problem, we are all here to learn. I know I have several roosters with my kids, a few have been mean, but most of the roosters are fine. I have more problems with the kids getting pecked by a broody then I do a mean rooster.

Yea I am in no way knowledgeable enough to really do this .... but I am making it. Just gave the ladies some spinach, squash, and stale bread for treats. My fodder is struggling a bit but I think that because I did not wash it enough before the soak. Trying this week with more washing.

Hopefully have a thicker mat of fodder. I am hoping some kind person will take that rooster for me. My broody is sitting on one egg. I have not seen her come out in several days so I have been putting a little scratch in her nesting box just in case.

Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful Saturday.

I'm wondering if anyone has an incubator I can borrow for a couple weeks, or if someone can incubate an egg (just one) for me...my duck is going to drive me mad! This is the third time this season that she's gone broody then decided a couple weeks in that she'd much rather go play with my drake in the pool. She has one good egg that has a rambunctious little critter inside, and I'd really like to get at least one duckling this season! But I don't have an incubator, and I don't want to go and spend all that money if I'm just going to use it once.

Also, thanks for the warm welcome :)

Hi all, hope everyone is having a great weekend! I am so happy to report we had our first egg this morning, A perfect white one. Pretty sure it came from our brown leghorn. What joy to see that first one and it's only been a week today since we got the older ones. Makes me feel we are doing all right since this is our first time having chickens.

All have a blessed weekend!

There was an incubator that was less expensive than I thought it would be, so I went ahead and bought it, it's warming as we speak :)

I'll take him!! I got my girls from Southern States too. They're only 4 wks at the moment so he'll be good and frustrated by the time they're old enough for him. If you want I can replace him with a pullet or two when they come along. Or maybe swap one of my girls to you. Lmk.
