if you're getting that many males your incubator temp could be too high.
female eggs will door before males in high temps.
I've also read theories that the temperature you incubate can determine sex like in some reptile eggs but hasn't been proven.
I have read incubating at lower temps to get pullets
can cause eggs to quit at the end.

Hello to all of my chicken lovers, I have some questions.

I would like to know if anyone is interested in some Japanese bantam cockerels. They are just like my Japanese bantam cockerel named Houdini. He is the sweetest thing ever and these two little guys are his brothers. They are at our friends who gave us Houdini and can't keep them now sense they have more cockerels than hens when it comes to the Japanese bantams. They are Buff Black Tail and literally just started crowing. I do believe, no body quote me on this, they hatched somewhere in march... give or take a month. It is on my calendar somewhere. They've been handled since day one and are the sweetest little guys.

Next, I have been offered a White Leghorn Cockerel who is about 6-7 weeks old. They only problem is, we don't really want a White Leghorn rooster since we don't have any hens and we want our rooster to match some of our hens. Anyway I've decided I only want to take in the rooster if someone on here is willing to trade him... I have collaborated with my mom and we have decided we would either like maybe two hens (preferably laying) for him or possibly a cockerel or rooster that matches some of our girls. We have Silver Laced Wyandotte (choice #1), Welsummers, RIRs, Black Australorps, and Orpingotns.

We don't want a RIR roo since we have had bad experiences with them in the past and we are planning on getting a Lav Orp cockerel this spring from a person we know. We would also trade the Leghorn for some bantam hens if they were Cochin, Japanese, or Campine...

I know this is a lot of confusing and detailed trade stuff but my mom is choosing to be picky since we are in the middle of setting up our coop and wants to be careful with what we take in right now til we have more space for the birds.

So I guess to summarize we are wanting
- Cochin or Japanese hens
- any brown egg layers...

Not guaranteeing my mom will accept a rooster, it depends on what we might get...
- Black Australorp
- Silver Laced Wyandotte
- Welsummer

I think my mom is leaning more for a Black Australorp but I'm looking into a SLW to go with my girls! Anyways sorry for the rambling just trying to figure this out. We have to come up with something by Saturday morning.... That's with the White Leghorn anyways... Feel free to pm me anytime about the Japanese Cockerels. I'm not sure if their asking for any money, but I will ask and let anyone know if they're interested.

Black Australope hatched in June: we were/are going to cull him because he is flighty and was running from all the other chickens. In the past week or so he has calmed down and hangs out with my girls a few weeks older. He still doesn't like people much though.

He is so pretty!!! So are you looking for a White Leghorn Cockerel? I make no guarantees, but I might be able to work it out though... My mom thinks he looks really nice, but she might need some more arm pulling. We are also in the Charlotte area... I don't think we're that close to you...

I am actually not looking for anything! Just wanted to give you a chance at him before we culled him. I put him on facebook for $8, but may negotiate. Charlotte is about an hour away depending on traffic ( up to 3 if it is rush hour! LOL)

OK I am desperate... I need some chicks.... any heavy breed... Need as young as I can get! Broody hen is starting to get on my nerves.... Help someone!
