I wont make the March 1st flock swap, as I am trying to maybe go to the Unifour show. Which puts a kink in finding new homes for a few nice silkie roosters and some odd ball hens and what nots. But there's always the next swap.

I'm thinking about going to the swap I don't know.

I have some 6 week old ducks torehome.
Though if its going to be so cold maybe I should hang on to then a little while longer since they snuggle.

EE's lay any color of egg and can look like anything. Hatcheries sell these as americanas. Ameraucanas are a true breed that is muffed and bearded and lays only blue eggs and come in 8 show-able colors (project colors like the lavender are in consideration for being admitted to the APA Standard). A few hatcheries have started to sell true ameraucanas, but want like $14 a chick.
Araucanas in the USA are rump-less and might be tufted or clean faced but lays a blue egg only and are also a true breed. As far as I know no hatcheries sell true araucanas.

There's a thread in the "breeds, genetics, and showing" section on the main forum that has a thread that explains the differences really well.
Good description, RF!

The confusion comes with hatcheries that use the three terms and a variety of misspellings interchangeably. But you've got two completely different pure breeds and mutts falling under that confusing umbrella!
