Good morning folks

It's been an odd year of sorts so far. The turkeys didn't start laying
until later spring and are still laying. The roosters have become a
hit-and-miss deal with the hens so fertility has dropped and although
there are a few feathers out and about they are not molting like they
have in years past. We also had more hens go broody than we ever
have before..........odd year.

Yes, the same here. Sooooooooo many broodies this yr. and so hard to break. Usually just a day or two of isolation and no nest and they will quit but not this yr. Sometimes it takes over a wk. They have been determined and are still going broody.

Oh well,

Good morning all,

Well, the ducklings are spending the nights outside, so I have to start reducing their number before I get attached. I have up to six female khaki Campbell ducklings available for $15 each. These were sexed at Metzers. Their hatch date is 21 July, so they are just over three weeks old. KC are prolific layers and don't require a pond, just a wading pool.

Anyone interested before I CL them?

Had some intruders last night......tried to get some close ups so that someone with more experience than me might recognize what it was. I figure from the size of the prints and the mess, it might be some type of dog or...we also have coyote here..

Usually when someone is offering to take surplus roosters...normally hard to get rid of....they are going in the freezer. There's really not much other use for them. I don't think Doubleatraining is into training cock fight birds with bait birds.

There's a chicken processing plant just over from me in Robeson county, and it doesn't affect local poultry owners at all. I don't expect the one off 53 to be a problem. Although. I'm in Cumberland county, I'm just inside the county line, so far closer to the Mountaire plant in Robeson. There are also commercial growers on the street behind me, which has not been cause for concern, either.

Good morning folks

The temps had cooled down to the point of good and warm but not
Hades hot.........until these days coming up......just in time for kids to
be back on those buses that are like one of those toy ovens sold for
kids to bake little desserts in. There is going to be a lot of whining and
groaning going on in the bus lots......and then there will be kids added
to that. I'm already hearing lots of it.......guess I should stop it.
