I had a silkie cross who kept going broody last winter. I finally gave in and let her have some eggs, they hatched out after the really cold snap we had last year. They did fine. Good luck with yours.

Good morning folks

I had an interesting conversation with one of the high
school students yesterday. She was trying to advise me
one who not to vote for today. I asked her why and she started
repeating all the negative attack ads we are subjected to during
the months before voting.....I am SO tired of those things!!! I
asked her if she had checked the nominees voting record or
if they had held to what they had promised to address during their
prior campaign. She said no........ so I said you are basing your
opinion on hearsay and rumors.........long pause and then the
defense mode started. I asked why she thought the candidate was
wrong to vote for if she had not done the checking of records and
she answered "because"........ I told her that is not an answer.......
it's an excuse............ she continued to follow the herd about the
candidate.......sheep, the youth of today........but we all were at
one time about something. Vote today.

I'm with you. I get so tired of everyone just listenning to the adds. Why don't they actually read the full bills that were voted in and see who was affected by them. So many half truiths out there. Vote everyone.

I took my thirteen year old son with me to vote and I was explaining to him that you should always look up each candidate before going to the polls and not just go by the ads. It was clear that the volunteer who heard me tell my son that was surprised. Probably the only one that day who actually was and INFORMED voter.

I am so glad the vote is done. Now all those signs can come
off the road sides and no more ads to wade through from the
mail box. No more ads on the television either.......but I'm sure
that space on the television will be filled with Christmas now.
I love the spirit of the season.....just the season has gotten a
bit long.

Just making myself known here! From Raleigh and enjoy raising my backyard chickens. Is there much of a worry in Raleigh for cold weather? Or is it not going to get cold enough to be a worry?

I'm having a bit of a "calm before the storm" feeling.
I know the seasonal rush is about to start and while it's
exhilarating it's also exhausting. The aftermath more like
a "winter blues" than anything. I don't intend to feel like
that this year so I'm going to find something to keep me
busy and interested........hmmmm
