SuperChicky - I still think that is a BEAR... ok, more like a bear cub, but still!!
I cannot believe you managed to get a picture of that hawk/falcon (whatever it might be)!! We have a grey one (with spots to boot) that has been living in our yard. I think it has seen us working on moving and rebuilding our chicken coop and says to itself...free food will be here soon!! Do you plan to get rid of it? If so, how? If not, how do you plan to keep your babies safe? I cannot believe you got that coop...it looks SUPER nice (I see it's potential...that and I have a thing for red/white barns!!)
Wish me luck everyone...I am going to attempt to do some deconstruction (against my husband's wishes...SHHHH) today on the coop while my little one is napping. I'm not too sure how it will go. DH woke up to a flat tire and a phone call telling him his g'ma passed away.
Therefore, deconstruction and consequently construction will be put off for at least a week.
He will be flying home and then flying back here only to fly again for work. <sigh> Not only am I going to be "alone" but it would be the perfect time to cuddle with some chickies. BHep...I might have to come over and cuddle with your Cochins as you know I want some...although the new ones (Bantams I think you said) are CUTE too!! Maybe I'll just have to come cuddle with them!!
So...if anyone has some younger hens that are older than chicks (but not laying ... YET) let me know!!
I might have to take BHep's idea and when DH comes back from his work...have a few in the house...waiting for their own home.
Think that will land me in the dog house? Wait...we don't have one!!
I saw a tip and was wondering if anyone used it. I read where someone freezes a milk jug filled with water and places that in the water for their chickens to keep it cool on really hot/humid days. Has anyone tried that? Does it work? Is it necessary? Just thought I would ask.
I hope the auction went well for everyone. Once I figure out how to find it in Clayton, I expect I will be hanging out and "scoping out" the merchandise!!
Have a great day everyone...it's suppose to be warm here in Central NC...in the 80's!!
