I am just getting started with the same thing so to speak... Hatching out my "hen pen" birds. I already have a couple of dark eggers, just hatched three olive eggers hoping for a couple of pullets

and looking to add a couple of ameraucana's to the group soon. I will make a pen of nothing but rainbow layers just for those special occasions, crafts and eating eggs.

Thank you. I had a bunch of those old tupperware plastic hambuger press stack and stores... well they make excellent brooder beginner feed and water dishes.

Final count on Sheba's brooding was 1 Silkie - a pretty yellow color???? and 2 Barred Rock chicks. All have a feeder and water close to momma so can feed and water at will. Sheba is protective as is Henry!!!!! But the new hatchlings are doing good..........

Coop Update: we have 4 posts in the ground and 1 side of the run/apron started!! I am hoping to be able to get more of the run done tomorrow if DD cooperates. We stayed home from church tonight because she was vomiting this afternoon. Don't know if she was too hot or if she just has a cold. I figured she ate a TON of dirt on Monday and that didn't affect her.

I hope to see more photos from everyone soon!! I need to fuel my addiction!! OH, did I mention that my girls like to fly? They are definitely ready to get out into the run as they have been flying up on the dog pen which is 3 1/2' tall!! They're so little, I didn't think they could jump/fly that high this early on.

guess they are showing me. Jemimah Puddleduck and Flopsy are the two main escapees!!
I will post photos if I can tomorrow!! Have a great evening!!

I've had my girls at my house for 11 days. I've been giving them percocet, so they are verrrrrrrrrrry calm and relaxed. All jokes aside I have come to the conclusion (or just a flat out guess through some figuring) That all 3 may be laying. I'm starting to think that they my be contributing 4 eggs per week or so. If they each lay 1 every 3 days then that just about adds up. I have Golden Comets and they are younger birds, but I can't help being anxious for that day when I go out and find 3 beauties in the nesting box.

No worries then... the day is coming, probably a few more weeks, but its coming.
