Well hope all mama's have had a very enjoyable mothers day.. My husband and son spent the whole weekend catering to my every want and desire.. my only desire was to finish our coop!

My only want was for my husband to stay away from the office, blackberry and laptop and spend time with us.. ALL ACCOMPLISHED
He has laughed at me a few times this weekend for feeding my girls Oatmeal and watermelon.. Checking on them multiple times (because they spent their first night in the coop saturday)
Seems to think I wont have the heart to kill them for meat
I've told him many times... I have my one that I like and I have marked her... as long as I am not around and dont know which one it is YOU can prep and butcher... After all.. we do have 3!!! roosters to help keep up the numbers
This is my son "helping"
We got all the fencing up this weekend.. Just need some finishing touches that my husband and I will take care of this afternoon..
My husband is bringing home a window to install in the back wall so we will get a cross breeze through the coop throughout the day.. We are installing a "kick" board in front of the entrance gate to keep the chickens in and the dogs out
We have a slight gap where the fencing and the shed meet that husband has apparently done on purpose.. Says there is a reason I have yet to figure out.. The inside of the coop we still require the nesting and roosting "stations".. Thats another days work
But my babies are still only 4 wks old... I have another 2 wks to accomplish that.. We moved the chicks out to the coop Saturday night because the weather forcast looks good for the next week and I couldnt handle the chicken dust anymore! I have them fenced off inside the coop with plenty of pine shavings, lots of water, their heat lamp and food. During the day the coop doors remain open for breeze and light until the window is installed.
Been a busy weekend but we're ALMOST there!
