if you were close, id inquire about the bantam mix pullets, and blue bantam cochin cockerel-split to lav.. i have a cochinf bantam pullet, that might not get some of her type from the baby boy that got with her as chicks to keep company. but curious how they look anyway. i have about nine feathering game chicks to rehome..

Have a young lady from your very town coming next month to the Chickenstock to pick up a Silkie pullet, maybe she would transport for you??

maybe.. so do you have pics of what giving away and finding homes for (im guessing the management gave up on saying no poultry here as supposed health dept said, as alot of other neighbors i noticed taking a walk a couple times recent, have gotten hens and roosters, as wel as management hasnt said anything about me keeping them inside)?

well just noticed from few hours at most it was really quiet, and went down after talking about cochin bantams, and found my game hens had killed the cochin cockerel badly, but apparently silently ( i have them in the house for now), as seems his neck was broken but also torn up, so hoping that was post mortam as he couldnt have been dead long as he was and was no noise of rukus so close.

Yay to your LO!! I have not seen any eggs as of yet, but I am anxiously awaiting them....any day now!! I sure wish my girls would hurry up and decide it's TIME!! LOL. Does an increase in appetite signify anything? Boy are these girls eating as if they've never been fed!!

Have you decided what you plan to do with the fabric?? I hear you make aprons...that would make a fabulous egg collecting apron!!

birthday!! (Can you tell I am NOT ready??) We have some friends stopping by for a cookout and their little girl is 9 days younger than ours, so it's a "play date"!! I think it will end up being a work "date" as they offered to bring over their tractor and finish the job our tiller didn't do!! We'll see!!

I will say one positive thing on the chicken front...the new girls have finally been fully accepted - I saw them outside yesterday playing/foraging and they were not being chased around or anything!! What I found really funny was the "youngins" were on the TOP roost while the "alpha" male/female sat beneath them!!

Well, I am off to do more sewing and cleaning...feel free to stop by and lend a hand!!

We got the sewing machine positioned in house last night and I will get it cleaned up today. Now if I can just learn to use it I will be doing great!

I have not decided what to do with the material yet, though I have recently discovered skirt purses and it may use some of it to make some skirts.

I have not seen an appetite increase as they start to lay, I have just come to realize that chickens are not chickens.... they are pigs in disguise!!!

i was wanting to bring my rosecomb roo up so his tiny crow could be heard and wake me up early, but im afraid the hens might off him too if i take him out of view for to long. i bathed my female cochin today and she fought at first then just started playing in the water.. so she must not be to stressed, as then went and gobbled down about three handfuls of mealworms (i dont know were she puts it, but is on grate and been squatting down all the time when not getting lubbins). if she starts to lay withing how long, will the eggs hatch if the roo was mating her?

I am sure you will have that sewing machine down in no time!! Mine is computerized and I can honestly say there are times when I miss my OLD 1930's Singer!! There was no fancy computer, just straight, back and zig zag stitching. It made things a less complicated!! If you are in some need of patterns, please let me know, I have a bazillion plus I know of a few really good websites that give you free tutorials and patterns!! Once I get my DD's and her friend's dress finished, I plan to make myself a few skirts and dresses!! Although I am sure I'll end up putting those aside and making another two or three dresses for my DD!!

You will definitely have to keep us posted with photos!!
