North Carolina

Good morning everyone! The last of our company just left to head back home so I'm catching up! Glad to hear it sounds like everyone (chickens included) is doing ok! My families homes are all ok, but many friends and neighbors weren't so lucky. The pictures their friends have been posting on facebook are insane!!! Scary stuff! And even crazier that the reports stretch all the way up to Boston where a friend had a tree come through a window and had to get stitches! What a storm! We were out of power from 11:30 am Sat. til pretty late that night but no damage or anything! Wphew!

Hope you all had fun at Chickenstock! Looks like it! Great job, HT!!! Wish I could've been there. One day I'll make it!

Bhep - I'm going to call my neighbor today, I promise. Glad to hear your little duckies are doing well.

CoopScoop - thanks for the tip on Sanford. I think the Willow Springs place is closer, but I'll have to check that out if I'm ever in that neck of the woods.

ML - hope you enjoyed your company!

NH - so jealous of the eggs! Good luck with the morning sickness and with your travels!

Does anyone in the Raleigh area process their own meat birds? I have 4 that need to be processed this weekend. I am pretty sure I can do it alone but would LOVE some guidance if anyone has time. I'm willing to pay.

Thanks!

Power and phones still out in places here. We started school 2 hrs late (except teachers - we of course had to be on time to assess any damage...none, but left 1 hr 55 min. until kids came). It was a good plan as many kids still don't have power and it is hot and humid today. AC is a wonderful invention!! Quite a few absences, but those are probably students who left town and are still trying to make their way back.

I saw your hen is doing well after being moved because of the storm, good news!!

Yes! Thank you for all your help! We put her back yesterday late morning and she was right back like she'd never been moved. Of course, she had had a nice quiet vacation in an insulated room complete with her own food and water which didn't have to be shared. She probably was bragging that we loved her best !!!

I bet she was.. funny

Checking in after the storm. All the birds are just fine. I finally got my very dead tree down -thank you Irene- only good thing the storm did. I got bit on the face at work on Friday and got to spend the afternoon in the emergency room and then again on Saturday night when the infection set in for IV antibiotics

. It is getitng better slowly. Clean up of the tree and branches will have to wait until next week.

Hey greene! Hate to hear about the bite! That has got to hurt!!!

But I'm glad to hear that Irene took care of your tree for you! I've been meaning to pm you - are you trying to get rid of your little boy BLRWs? I had a lady email me about my Orps from an ad I forgot to delete on craigslist. But she wants a quiet boy or two and they probably wouldn't have been just right for her. I know my big boy was very quiet and when I mentioned the breed she said she had read that might be a good choice so I told her I'd pass on her info. She's really nice and sounds like she has a great set-up and better yet is willing to pay for a boy!

If you'd like her info just pm me! If any of the rest of ya in this neck of the woods (Wake County) have a nice, quiet boy that's good with kids just let me know, too!

Continued good luck that everyone is ok after the storm!!!! And wishing you a quick recovery, greene!!!
