DoubleA he is a lone hatcher from 9-2-11, so he is just about 4 months old. About a month ago, I notice his eye closed, I suspect his eye way pecked by the peacock chicks. They are in the next coop. Anyway...... the eye seem to be slowly healing and I am pretty sure he is or will be blind in that eye.

I will try for a picture....but it is getting dark out.

i hope you can replace your white rock with another and sounds like you have alot of other birds you can add to your flock from the awesome people on here.

LOL I make homemade hotpockets like that as well, I use store biscuits flatten them out, and add ham or roast beef and cheese to the middle. or scrambled eggs or sausage and cheese to the middle - very good!

From a 1922 cookbook Mincemeat

1 1/2 c cooked plain roast beef, chopped, do not use a grinder
2 c apples, chopped
1/2 c suet, chopped
1 1/3 c white sugar
1 c apple cider
1/2 c juice from sweet pickles
1 tsp salt
1 tsp mace
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2/3 c raisins

Mix all together and cook for 1 hour over medium heat. If too dry add small amounts of water.

easy and yummy. nothing like the store bought mincemeat. enjoy
