The Brinsea is still running in the laundry room, with the few remaining eggs that did not hatch. I will candle them later but I suspect I am done.

Good Morning All

Good Morning Everyone!!

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. Now I must decide what must be done with Susan.

She is such a sweet bird, I hate to put her down, but I don't want her suffering. I really don't know what to do. Be honest with me...what would you all do? I did look at the symptoms of Merek's and they seem to be more severe than what Susan has, no paralysis. She still runs around/waddles and forages with the rest, but she isolates herself at night preferring to sleep in the nesting boxes or in a little "burrow" she makes in the coop floor.

To us (DH and I) it looks as if she has something "stuck" back there and is walking "funny" because it hasn't come out. Can a chicken go from being a "normal" layer to an internal layer? <sigh> I just don't know what to do. I hate these moments where I have to decide...I'm not good at this part (especially with the extra hormones making me want to cry at the drop of a hat!!)

On a happy note: both of my new girls are officially laying!! Belle's waddles are now BRIGHT pink and I found a beautiful dark brown egg in the coop yesterday that is still small but bigger than the bantam one she laid!! Also, we are now "free" of our worming cycle and that means that we can start collecting eggs again!!

I am so happy to be DONE with buying store bought eggs...that will be a much needed rest on the pocket book!! Remind me when it's time to worm again, that I need to stock up on eggs!!

By then I will have TWO (
