North Carolina

Been a few days! Too much going on! Had to stop and say "hello"... But mostly to share with y'all a funny! I was passing through the garage and my juvenile silkies got wind of me and started the dance! So I walked over put my hand down to love them, and my most blonde of the gals looked right at me and Crowed! Silly it a boy.... Looks like its gonna be two pairs! I'm sure the main rooster has known but still he can't be too thrilled about it either. Hope y'all are doing well!
Peace,

To set, or not to set, that is the question.

I have said no hatching till April. Even then I had decided on no bantams, except mottled Cochins. The problem is that the Dutch are laying and they are pure. Then today I caught Peanut, one of my calicos, laying in the henhouse and without thinking picked up her egg and place it in an empty carton on my desk. Last year I hatched out several bantams to replenish the old flocks. I was just planning for standards this year, but the egg is so perfect.

Maybe someone out there wants some Dutch eggs and a calico egg to hatch to remove this temptation from me.

Well all the chicks are happy LOUD and lively! I posted the 8 NN on CL, there are 2 blacks, 2 buffs, and 4 reds, st. Run! They are kinda cute with their top hats but they still weird me out.
I have a question, at what age can you tell if a cochin will be frizzle or not?

NH, My cousin is always getting ear infections. She is 5 and does the same thing, she will be crying in the middle of the night but my aunt always says she is never awake. I hope she gets to feeling better!!!

Wildriverswolf, I have hear anywhere from a few days to a week to tell, but I have not had any personally so I don't know for sure. Congrats on your new chicks!!!

I hope everyone is doing good, I haven't been on much lately. The charger for our Mac Book broke ( thanks to foster puppies ) so my family is trying to share a little net book. . . . . As you can amagine that hasn't been working out to well

Does anyone know where you can buy a charger without spending a fortune??? Since the last time I was on we adopted a Labradoodle

He is just a year old and has SO MUCH energy! We walk/jog him and also let him run around the yard but it doesn't matter. Even if he stays outside all day he always has more energy to burn

Did I mention he LOVES to chew? To be honest I don't care if he is bouncing off the walls and chewing on my shoes, I just hope that he does well with the chickens once we get them

A friend of ours is going to be moving and wont be able to take her hens so we will be taking them on. I'm happy to have chickens again but this means I wont be able to have any chicks!!

I love chicks. While I remember, lol. We were given a bunch of different seeds. I was wondering, if I post what we have could someone tell me when we need to plant them??? None of them are in packets that tell you so I have no clue when to start them. Oh! almost forgot to ask when can you plant a turnip? Someone gave us the begining of a turnip plant and I was wondering if I could put it out yet.

Thanks!!!

Hey Allabout nice to see you again.

Newhome hope DD gets to feeling better.

Wild, my frizzle's wing feathers turn out slightly as they are coming in. The longer they get the more curve to them. I am with you on NN, look like a vaulter or something.
