Gah! Stuck at work on this gorgeous day and crazy drama at home... My poor dh accidentally killed Albert my sl polish roo todya, and he is beating himself up about it...apparently Albert "flew" at Hunters face when he bent down to pick up the feed scoop he had dropped and in an effort to protect his face he swung his arms around and hit him in the crest with the scoop...so anyone know of a silverlaced polish rooNPIP, I would be very interested. Or I have a hen available (yr old march 15th)

NC.

Hi everyone, I'm in NC, too. We live in Liberty, which is just outside Burlington. I've been on this site about a year but never noticed this thread. Guess I've been missing out!

Beautiful little goat babies!!

Editing to add:

I have a flock of about 8 guineas, who are free-range. Great bug-eaters. I got the first four guineas from a neighbor and incubated and raised babies. Plan on raising some more this year if I find eggs.

Also have 12 RIRs that are free range but come in to their house at night. We just raise them for the yummy eggs, for us and friends and family. Love having them around. I'm learning more and more about poultry. I have a great incubator and a whole "bird room" in my barn for the "in-between" (between brooder and free-range) so I wouldn't mind raising some more variety.

Also have 55 BW Quail eggs in the incubator, on day 9. My husband is building a fly pen, where he will raise the quail to hunt.

If they decide to stay for the whole auction, I doubt they get out of there before 6-7 pm with that many boxes. I would have liked to go but just can't do that every weekend with more days in a weekend

Set up my brooder lol. Tractor supply's chick days start tomorrow. DH has stated I am not allowed to go allow (he does not trust me). My chicks will be here next week so just a little more waiting.
Thank you all for the advise. Here are picks of my brooder compound.

I put it together all by myself. DH did not help me LOL.
Yes, I over think things alot.

Sounds like a very nice flock! We raise guineas, too. Actually have our first few eggs this spring ready to hatch in the hatching bator. Can't wait to get some stripedy little keets! You will have to post pics of your quail chicks when they hatch!
