I am rarely jealous of what someone else has...but now I am. Definitely jealous. Very. I want some!

OK, I'm experiencing my first broody hen apparently.

I have a flock of about 18 or so-laying hens and soon-to-be-laying ones, too. One rooster and a few ducks. They stay in a coop and don't free range around the yard anymore.

The buff orpington hen is sitting on 6 duck eggs in the nesting box. (we found the eggs and stuck them there) I really don't mind this, except that my other hens haven't laid at all for the last two days..Is this a coincidence or what? I almost always get 6 or 7 eggs a day, even throughout the winter..

Gooooooooooood morning!!! I woke up to 4 peeping chickies! HOORAY! They ALL hatched, and I'm truly shocked. Looks like the final ones appears to be 2 EE mixes and 2 Marans. So darn cute and pretty calm when I hold them. Off to get chick feed and treats for mama!

Sometime the other hens will lay next to her and then the broody steals them.

I just realized... I have 4 1/2 dozen eggs in my fridge...

I think I need to collect for hatching eggs. Other then taking the eggs to the stock yard to auction, what is the best way to sell them? Both eating and hatching?
