how did these sell?
Less than I would have liked. If I would have held on to them this spring I think I would have done better. My lavender orpingtons did the best surprisingly $20 each. The buff laced were $16 and the gold laced only went for $6. Ducks also went for less than I would have liked at $5 and $9.

But it was kind of expected, not many people are there to pick up birds. Mostly to unload before winter. Spring is when everyone goes a little crazy.

Hello everyone

Newbie here from ND, Turtle Lake area. Live on a farm with a good chicken coop that hasn't been used for 30 years. We are going to be sprucing it up and getting chickens this spring. Is it possible to purchase laying hens anywhere in central ND? Our chickens will be allowed to free range, and we have barn cats so we want to avoid having young ones.

Welcome! I'm a high schooler from Richardton! I've got some laying hens I need to get rid of next spring, in June or May. There's the New Salem Exotic Animal Sale, but laying hens go for insane money in the spring was more then I willing to spend..

If you got chicks you could just keep them in the coop for a month until they're big enough to intimidate the cats.

. How long does it take for chicks to be big enough to avoid predators like Hawks?

Depends. I've never had a hawk or eagle attack and I've got numerous hawks and bald eagles here. Chicks know at a young age to avoid hawks, I would say 2-3 weeks old
