Yay! 3 of my girls are finally laying. 1 of the Am's, 1 BCM and 1 sporadic wellie. And the Am's 1st egg was fertile!! The others firsts weren't. But that's ok, I don't want to hatch any barnyard mixes yet. I want to cull all my BCM boys, and 2 of my wellie boys, unless anyone wants a welsummer rooster... They're super pretty lol!

Anyone want any D'uccles or Silkies?? So far, out of my 9 remaining Golden Necks, all are developing, I also was shipped a dozen Mille Fleur D'uccles as well as 14 Silkie eggs. The silkies are paint and paint/black splits, and seems like everyone hatching thus far gets a majority of the paints with 3-4 black splits, and a couple of random other colors. Hit me up if you want some banties in 3 weeks! LOL

@UGLYFOOT these are from a few hatches ago. The reason we have to turn eggs is to keep the embryo from sticking to the side of the egg, but it also allows healthy development of the CAM. Without a healthy CAM the chick can't get the oxygen it needs, it doesn't get enough calcium for healthy bones, and it can make it difficult or impossible for the chick to position itself to absorb it's yolk or to position itself to hatch.

Here is a day 18 candle from the bottom of the eggs.



Top down looks normal and great.



That chick was alive at the time of candle, but it died before pipping because it couldn't get into position to absorb it's yolk.

Cool! I am thinking that shipping can be divided equally and then whoever wants something can just pay for their chicks and then shipping. I want some of their Ams and that's it. Unless one of my SiAms hatch or My boy recovers.

That's good. What did it look like?

I'm not sure I got the meds in time to save my guy.

This morning he didn't want to open his eyes, and when I gave him the meds he had a bunch of clear mucus coming out of his mouth. I hope it was just the way my husband grabbed him that made it come up. I gave him a does and I hope he makes it through the night. He needs the meds for 5 days, and if they don't work he's gonna get culled. 

His girl seems alright still, I'm gonna give her the meds too, but her need seems less urgent.

Like normal poop. I'll get a picture in a bit. Getting ready for work.

I'm sorry Is she laying again yet? Have you started artificial light?
