I just looked up the Swedish Flower. Beautiful! I hope it hatches with a pullet. And i have been searching for Wellsummer and Marans. I love the egg color.

Olive eggers would be fantastic. DH is not going to be happy with me. Oh well....

Yeah, I've always been one of the "ask forgiveness when he finds out" sorts. If i wasn't, we'd only have a handful of chickens

I give new babes sips of yolk water, but hard boiled is good too.
is that just raw yolk mixed with water? I gave them mostly hard-boiled egg yolk but I put a little bit of the whites in there too. Figured it wouldn't hurt them. When can I start feeding them grasses and we etc.? Just as little treats not their whole diet of course.

As long as the grass has not been treated any time, and grit of course. If you give raw yolk, and don't refrigerate it toss it after a day, it gets sour.

I have a question... All 6 of our hens have always only used their nest boxes to lay eggs.
I put a rooster with them a week ago... And they have started laying in the corner of their coop... Even when no one is in the nest boxes... Sometimes they are laying in the boxes but some days in the corners. One day my husband went out to check for eggs and the rooster was in the nest boxes and scratching around... And had covered up a couple eggs....
Any reasons why? This is our first time with a rooster! And so far so good. Just curious on why the changes in where they decide to lay. And is it normal for the rooster to be scratching around their nest boxes? We havent seen him in there again. Just the one time
