Winthrop is a cute old west theme town, so it is fun! The roos you like are both 4 months old, I also have month old roos too! just let me know if you are headed this way.

Ugh we're going to have issues with the neighbor dog... Got all my chickens up to our house, they were out in the temporary run, and there came neighbor dog running around the run and coop trying to get in. Argh. I hate dogs, why can't they all be as nice and uninterested as mine and my in-laws..

Well after all is said and done I hatched 11 girls and 6 boys. Sadly one little pullet didn't make it over night. Don't know why. Oh well, 4 have been claimed already 1 boy and 3 girls. I'm keeping a few girls and the rest will be offered up with a boy as part of a pair($45). Let me know if anyone here wants to buy them, you all have first dibs. I'll post a CL ad later tonight.

Oh no...so frustrating! You have the right to protect your livestock and that includes poultry. Not that you want to start a war with your neighbors but they need to keep control of their dogs. Just saying :)

I would go talk to them soon, so they know that there will be chickens around and that you are going to ensure your chickens safety, but you want them to have the chance to keep their dogs safe first and foremost. So everyone wins. Maybe bring them a dozen eggs when you go introduce yourself and start off in a good way.

They know there is chickens, they came and talked with is when we were working on their coop last week. That and he came running to get his dog when he wouldn't listen to go home, asking if the chickens were ok.

My stupid mulit quote thing is not separating the different quotes so here is my answers in the order the quotes are seen. Are you keeping a boy? They are some of the best roosters, kind and gentle... Yes it is frustrating! I am fortunate to not have that problem here my neighbors dog was coming over before I had chickens but he got the buried fence/collar thing so they stay home now. I agree about talking to them and bringing eggs!! What a good show of trying to be understanding that would be. I have heard that Serama's can be pretty visious. Mine seem to be doing really well, I had to put them in with some younger chicks because the mixes they were with are HUGE compared to them. I lost one because I think it got squished in the brooder cave. I have not noticed any aggressive behavior though. Maybe I got all pullets. What is their feathering looking like? Any silkie or frizzle?
