I'm wondering the same thing. After all it just got warm enough to order chicks up here I thought.

You order in advance and pick a delivery date. I order in Jan. Deliver May. I will have bantams for salea in a few weeks.

Fairbanks is a little too far for me. Our store only had astrolorps, and something else. I usually do order early, but I wasn't going to get more chickens....

For people who are in the Fairbanks area and do not know...
Alaska Feed gets in hatchery quality chicks/ducklings/goslings/turkey babies every week through the last week in May.
They mostly get breeds that do well in cold weather. They will do special orders.
If hatchery chicks are ok, and they carry your breed it works out well.
You would have to call them to find out which bird varieties come in when.

Hello from Valdez . Tia successfully hatched a dozen of my EE OE eggs few weeks ago. We have lots of birds and are working on pretty eggs on one pen. We have Orps, cochins, serama, ameraucana. Hopefully we will add from old lines and begin preserving some heritage breeds.
