Hi!

New to the forum, I did start a thread asking if anyone was in the Fairbanks area, and, my sister showed me this thread. So.....Hi =)

This is my first year for chickens, they are still in my garage and some in the house.

I also saw you were all trying to get a group together for meetings up here, we are in the process of opening a cafe out in Two Rivers, and, you could meet here! =) Not sure if that's too far for some of you.

Our first volunteer for a possible meeting place!
I used to live in two rivers actually :)

So all together this makes 5 of us interested in meeting up.
I own a second hand store in Fairbanks I'm sure I could round up a table an chairs for us.
Coffee tea and popcorn provided.

Bringing refreshments is encouraged :)

Anyone have a particular date that works for them? Sundays are best for me.

Question about predators. Yesterday was the first day warm enough to take our 5 week old girls outside to peck around. I know I have to worry about birds of prey, but what about the ravens? Will the ravens openly attack my girls?

I have ravens about, and they haven't tried to kill my chickens, but I wouldn't trust them unless the chicks are close to fully grown.

Also, raptors will dive right out of nowhere and kill chickens. You have to be sitting right in the middle of your flock and always watching the sky if you want to keep them safe.

But then maybe I just have the all time worst raptor population. :(
