Can any one answer a few questions for me? This would be my fist time going to a show. My family wants to attend the show on Sat. I am looking for heritage RIR's and Delawares (or eggs from either breed). How are things set up (i.e. where are the for sale birds in relation to the show birds). I don't want to miss the show birds or miss some nice ones for sale. Even if I can't purchase the birds I am looking for, I hope to make some contacts with potential sellers. When is the best time to get there to see the birds for sale?
I also wanted to attend a lecture on Sat afternoon. Where are the lectures held?
Basically, I need a map of what is going on where at what time

They have the sale birds in the back of the building, whe you walk in you will see a lot of cages for show birds, you walk down to the back and the sales will be down there.
also find the office and they have a list of breeders attending the show, what they are showing, there names and entry #.

they sell birds from time of open to time of close. it just depends on how many are looking and buying if the person gets sold out quick or not, you should go early so you can see what is availible.

You will easily figure it out when you get there. If not - just ask at the show manager's office.

The birds at this show will be almost entirely "Standard Bred" meaning they are show stock. Unfortuneatly little attention is paid to the reproductive attributes of these birds. They are flowers.

If what you are looking for is birds that somewhat resemble "the Standard" and are good productive egg layers you may not find many at a show like this. The utility birds, generally supplied by a mail order hatchery, meet the productive capacities generally expected by persons interested in "heritage breeds" These utility birds do not place well at Standard Bred poultry shows.

But you know what - you are going to love poultry shows and will be very happy you made the trip.

See you there. We leave central Ohio at 3AM!

anyone going to this show that could transport a rabbit from this show to the swap in westford, ma first sunday in february for me? maybe

I'd suggest leaving a note with your contact info (including email address) attached to the coop of birds you really love.

I just finished bathing my beauties, what a day!

HI All...I wanted to drop in and let you all know that I will be there as well...with my cold process soaps!! Terry Golson (www.hencam.com) I believe will also be there signing her books "The Farmstead Egg Cookbook" and my favorite "Tillie Lays An Egg". Stop by my table and there is a free gift for everyone who purchases soaps. Looking forward to seeing all the judging and also the lovely birds that come in from all over New England. I'll also be first in line...for any chocolate egg layers!! So if you've got any you want to part with....hunt me down!
