Northeastern Poultry Congress (West Springfield) - Jan 17-18, 2009

Man...I want to go to this, but I KNOW I won't be able to resist bringing home some new additions to my coop. Too many chickens already! But then I get to thinking-- I have too many roosters, so if I buy some new hens to improve the hen-to-rooster ratio, then, well...but I shouldn't!

What to do, what to do...

That said. I am hoping to find a self blue DUccle pullet, or two.

Nice to hear people might like my Langshan pullets, but the question still remains, how do we swap birds that presumably aren't allowed into the show? Is there any warm place to put the cage, or do they stay in the car? It's going to be frigid this weekend -- how can the the humans have time in the show without the chickens freezing in the car? Any answers/suggestions out there?

(And the answer is I have two white Langshans, though one isn't looking very good this week; I suspect she's eggbound.)

I've only seen araucanas shown once at a show around here, I believe it was at Little Rhody this past fall. They were quite impressive.

The BYC mascot Henery is going to be with us this weekend at the Poultry Show!!!

He arrived yesterday with his clothes and a very nice letter and gift from his previous host. My daughter has been dressing him up and he slept with her last night. Dh is taking to work in Harvard Square today. Maybe he will go out for a little bit and take some pics outside of the office.
