Northwest Colorado anyone??

I did it, ordered my chicks!! they will be here 3/10

I went with a mix but made my own as I was concerned about comb types.

I ordered 5 females each of;

Rose Comb Leghorn
Silver Spangled Hamburg
Light Brahma
White Wyandotte
Blue Lace Red Wyndatte (SR only)

DH now needs to get going on brooder and coop.
thanks for all your input

I think you will be happy with your choices. I have rose comb brown leghorns and silver hamburgs that are 3 years old and laying through this winter. The leghorns are a bit flighty, but they are the best layers I've ever had and they do great in the cold weather. Both of those breeds are tiny as babies. Make sure you put marbles in your waterer at first. I didn't know that when I got mine and I lost one brown leghorn. She got in the water and drowned.

You must let us know when you get your babies how everything goes. OH, btw, you don't be too surprised if you end up with a roo or two out of your female order. I ordered 3 Silver hamburgs and got a Roo. I still have him, and his son and his grandson now. He's getting older now and this cold winter is slowing him down, just he is such a sweet boy. Did you also get the free rare chick? If so, it will likely be a roo too.

Morning Mary, (And everyone else too

If you do get a roo and you don't want him, before you butcher him

if that would be the case, please let me know and I'll buy him from you.

I decided to go with a few more of the breeds I was already getting from LoneCowboy and they'll be here 4/5.

Good Morning oops more like afternoon all, C if you want to make the road trip, I'd be happy to save some roos for you.

I will def post pics when they get here!

I am so ready for spring, it has been warmer here, but today we have light snow

I really wasn't planning on having a roo but the more I hear about how protective they are the more I'm thinking hmmm...

What type of roos will they be? the Wyandotte?

We've actually got sunshine and a beautiful day today

I'm very ready for spring also.

Remember we'll be up that way around 6/10 for softball so if you have an extra roo maybe I can grab him from you then.

Having a roo with the hens means that I need to collect the eggs quicker right? That part confuses me.

C-

I was wondering if thats what you might do, I could end up with roos form any of the ones I ordered, but def should have a blue lace red wyandotte those I would want to keep for later breeding, unless I end up with more than 3.
