I ordered 6+ eggs from ebay three weeks ago today was day 19 with them but I had a really bad time with these eggs. The breeder I purchased from was a recommened ebay seller of BCM eggs and they weren't cheep. she was nice sent me 10 eggs which was very nice. I sent her this letter below is it unrealistic for me to ask maybe for a few eggs not 10 but a few and I pay for shipping?

You had shipped me eggs three weeks ago. Upon arrival some were broke and some had multiple bubbles inside and were not viable. When we candled on day 10 only 3 looked to may have any growth at all we opened all the bad ones none had any growth at all since then on day 14 the hen pushed 2 out they smelled bad! opened them up and they were rotten bad! today one hatched and had its intestines falling out and no yolk absorbed beak was all messed up like it didn't line up and it died within an hour. Out of ten eggs I got zero babies. Is there anything we can work out?
Thank you for your time

Update:
got an email back from her and she has never had such a bad report back of her eggs from anyone and says that PO must have put them thru the wringer but if I pay for shipping she will send me new eggs! I'm soo happy!

DId you let them know what shape the eggs were in when you got them?
Your letter is nice enough. It depends on the breeder. I used to try and work it out with people when I was raising Golden pheasants, but that's just me. I wish you luck.

Unless they were poorly wrapped, the broken eggs and broken air cells indicate they had a very rough trip with the PO. I have bought many eggs and also sell them. As a buyer I wouldn't expect the seller to send me anymore since that is not their fault. As a seller I would, depending on the breed involved and my egg supply at the time offer some eggs for maybe 1/2 price plus shipping.

yes i did tell her day of arrival that 5 were were broke or looked like soap foam bubbles inside the egg rather than a normal air bubble

Im a pain in the butt with my breeders that sell to me-I am always in contact before -recieving of shipment and especially during incubation-they deserve to know and some could care less-either way I treat them the way I would love for my buyers to stay in touch with me-I have even taken pictures and sent them for them!-SOme never accknowledge me after they get the money and eggs arrive and thats ok too-to each his own I guess-If you put them under a broody who knows what conditions they were under-bators can be totally monitored- :-( I hope you get a positive response and they choose to send maybe 6 replacements for you:-) I would-

the eggs were shipped each wraped with a peice of bubble wrap that went around once then this long brown construction paper stuff loosly wodded up.

the brood hen is a pro she hatched 4 to 6 cluches a year all she wants to be is a mama the brood was in her own pen so not to be messed with by anyone else and was checked on three times a day. she normaly will have a perfect hatch if all eggs are fertile sometimes she will have one or two out of ten that just don't hatch after day 22.

I'm sorry to read of your experience, we just had '1' out of our last shipped batch hatch and that wasn't without lots of help(still ongoing, she's still very weak)...

We had no clue about this before we bought our first ones, but have now committed to picking up the eggs...We were shocked how many people were in our area with just a google search...I'd rather drive 2hrs both ways, than go thru another heartbreaking experience like the one we just went thru again...

I feel your pain. Here is my results on shipped eggs
0 hatch of 16 pynceons
0 hatch of 18 polish and 18 frizzle eggs from same breeder
0 hatch of 18 vorwerk bantams
11 hatch of 13 lavender cochins
8 hatch of 12 mottled houdan bantams.
The eggs that get to me in good shape which are packaged well hatch.

If it were me, I would contact her. Her packing the eggs in loose paper, didn't prevent the eggs from shifting during shipment. Doesn't really matter that they were packed in bubblewrap, if the egg is shifting around they can get scrambled. Shoot, I have had properly packed eggs, get scrambled.....shipping under the best of circumstances is hard on eggs, but they don't really stand a chance, if they are tossing around in the box.
